Chapter 11
I decided to go to Hagrid's hut first. I went through the hallways of the school and emerged at the closest exit to Hagrid's hut. I knocked on his door. It was immediately opened by a worried looking Hagrid. He pulled me inside and slammed the door. "Woah, what's wrong?" I asked. Hagrid didn't answer. He just pulled me over to his fireplace. "Do you have your emergency floo powder with you?" He asked. I immediately realised what was going on. He was still scared that Voldemort was after me. "I'm not going home" I said. Hagrid said, "Yes you are. This is serious. You need to go home and stay there and be safe. When He Who Must Not Be Named wants someone dead, that person will end up dead with all the people close to them. Now get out your floo powder." "What about dad?" I said, "He isn't dead. And if it was truly a bad situation, then why would my parents let me even come here? I need to learn magic to defeat Voldemort. It's the only way." Hagrid sighed and sat down. He pointed at the chair beside him. I sat down slowly.
"I don't want to scare you, but your father did at one point die. He did come back to life, but he did die. I witnessed it. I don't want to see you go through that or worse. You might not be so lucky as to come back to life Lilly." I sat staring down at the floor. I couldn't quite process the fact that my dad was dead at one point. Did that make him some sort of zombie? Or ghost? He couldn't be a ghost. I had hugged him and seen him eat. Ghosts couldn't do those things could they? It must have been magic. "So do you agree to go home now?" Hagrid asked. I answered, "No. I need to at least say goodbye to my friends if your going to force me to go." With that I got up and left.
I went back into the castle just in case Hagrid was watching. I took out my map and went to the nearest exit that was just out of Hagrid's view. I quickly jogged into the forest. Everyone in school knew about the giant oak tree that fell a couple of years ago. It was visible above all of the other trees and super thick. It was easy to find if you knew the right direction. I was about a third of the way there when I found someone I didn't expect to find in the forest. My older brother, Albus. He has a bad relationship with our father. He got into Slytherin house instead of Gryfindor. No-one even knows why. Maybe he'll trick a couple people into doing something stupid. Or maybe he might help me defeat Voldemort. I'd been thinking about that since we got to school. Albus isn't a out-doorsy person, so I was surprised to see him. He had already seen me, so I couldn't hide. "What are you doing here?" He asked. I asked him the same thing. All of the sudden he got defensive. "So what if I'm in the forest? Why do you care? What if I was just taking a stroll, huh?" He asked. I said, "Maybe I was taking a stroll too." Albus looked down. "Sorry" He said, "This is just where I come when I'm having a bad day. Lets just go back, okay?" I nodded and we went back to the castle. I would have to come back another day.
