Getting To Know Granger
Chapter 7
DRACO
I ran and ran and ran until I got to the prefects dorm. "Sherbet Lemon" I said breathlessly. The door swung open and I went to my room. I kicked the wardrobe with all my might. I'm such and idiot for doing all that!
"Draco!" I heard Hermione call behind me. I just ignored her: how could she help? I heard the sound of Hermione enter the common room. "Draco! Please!" she cried. I ignored her again. She came rushing into my room, breathlessly. And then I, being my stupid, cowardly self, started to cry again.
"Draco, please listen!" she pleaded "They're just stupid. They don't understand what its like!"
"Whatever, Hermione," I said through the tears "Why am I even trying?"
There was a long pause before Hermione quietly said, " But, why have I forgiven you then, Draco?"
I shrugged.
"Because you are amazing and wonderful and brave...that's why I forgave you and that's why you should try"
She wiped away my tears with the sleeve of her jumper and hugged me again. I couldn't help but hug her back and feel...safe for once. What was I thinking? Feelings? For Granger? She drew back and a tear ran down her face this time.
"W-what's wr-wrong?" I spluttered.
"Don't worry" she replied. I gave her a look. She looked at me back.
"In the war," she started "I...I had to um...erase my parent's memory"
"Memory? Of what?" I said. I could tell that this wasn't good.
"Me..."
"You? So you made your parents forget...that you ever existed?"
She nodded.
"But...they have their memory back now. Right?" I questioned, with butterflies in my stomach.
She nodded again. "It's just that. It still doesn't feel right. Nothing feels right anymore"
"I had to do something. But what? I am hopeless and helping people. I know that for a fact. "Hermione. The most important thing is they still have you and you still have them. Nothing does feel right anymore. But at least we have each other, right?"
She nodded.
