HERMIONE
I woke hazily to the sound of Ginny's excited voice. "Hermione! Hermione wake up! It's September the first!'. I yawned as I climbed out of bed and put on my robe. All of the Weasleys are sat at their small kitchen table, along with Harry. There is an empty space next to George, where Fred once sat. I push the thought out of my mind.
"Morning Hermione" smiled Harry as I took my seat next to Ron. I don't know how things are with us; I love him too pieces but now it seems as we're always fighting. Mrs Weasley serves us all a breakfast of eggs, toast and tea: of course Ronald stuffs the whole lot down him, which makes me laugh a little.
"I can't believe your head girl now 'mione!" exclaimed George with glee. This has been making me even more excited to go school. However, there is a burning curiosity to find out who is head boy. Harry turned the position down so it could be anyone. All of a sudden, Mr Weasley said "Blimey! 9 o'clock already? You better go and get ready!".
We all rushed upstairs and got into our robes. It feels amazing to put on the robes with the Gryffindor emblem again. I sat there and admired it for goodness knows how long. Suddenly Ginny burst into the room. "Hermione! Hermione it's 10 o'clock! Come on!"
We rushed down the stairs and all climbed into 2 cars that the ministry let Mr Weasley borrow for the occasion. Once we reached Kings Cross it was 10:50. And there stood the wall between platforms 9 and 10. "Once last time" Harry whispered.
"One last time." I whispered back. I ran through the wall.
The platform was as beautiful as it was before. The steam pouring out of the pipes of the train and the platform clearer than anywhere else. A tear trickled down my cheek. This was really the last time I was going back. Ron hugged me and we stepped on to the train. From behind we could hear the other Weasleys shouting their goodbyes to us. Ron, Harry and I found an empty compartment and sat down relaxed. About a minute later, the train started to slowly leave platform 9 and 3/4. "Where'd Ginny go?" Harry asked. Ever since the war ended, Harry has not let Ginny out of his sight. I just wish it was the same with me and Ron. "Chill out Harry! She's probably with Luna and Neville." Harry and Ron started discussing Quidditch while I looked out the window and wondered. There were so many people who could be head boy. Who was it?
"Hermione. Didn't McGonnagal want you to come to her compartment at 12?" Harry asked me. I looked at my watch; it read 12:07. I nodded my head hastily and ran out of the compartment to the Profesors part of the train. I'm so stupid! I was late for McGonagall... What a great start! I reached an oak door, with a gold encarving which read 'Professor Minerva McGonagall'. I knocked at the door and open it. There was Professor McGonagall and across from here is sitting Draco Malfoy. "Please take a seat Hermione." says the Professor. Cautiously, I sat on the chair that is next to Malfoy and put my hands in my lap. "Hermione and Draco, you are now both the heads of Hogwarts school." Draco. Draco is head boy. My head was spinning. It couldn't be...it just couldn't. "Now, I know that you both do not exactly see eye to eye," McGonagall carried on "but that is no excuse for you not setting an example for the younger students.". I looked at the floor. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Malfoy looking at me, with a pleading look in his face. '' Both of you will be staying in a prefect's dorms for the rest of the year. The password is 'Sherbet Lemon'"
"What?" I said. I couldn't help myself "I'm not staying in the Gryffindor tower anymore?"
"No Miss Granger, you are not. Just as Draco won't be staying in the Slytherin dungeons"
There was a pause.
"Both of you please go to the prefect's compartment and stay there for the remainder of the journey" I opened my mouth to protest when I realised that I would just have to go with it. Malfoy stood up and left. I gave McGonagall one last look and followed him.
We made our way to the compartment without a word. When we got there I didn't know what to do so I just sat down. "Listen,' Malfoy said all of a sudden "Everything that happened before, I-I really didn't mean for any of it. It all just-just happened and I couldn't stop it. I really hate myself now for doing it and-"
I cut him off. "Don't be sorry Malfoy. It wasn't your fault"
"So, you'll fo-forgive me?" I considered this for a moment. Nothing that he did was out of choice. Finally, I said "Yes, you're forgiven"
He smiled at me "And we can go on a first name basis?"
"Don't push it" I laughed.
We sat the remainder of the journey in silence. We arrived to Hagrid's usual calling of 'First years! First years this way to the boats!' The sound elated me. I spotted Harry and Ron climbing off the train and ran after them, leaving Draco with Pansy.
"Hey Hermione!" exclaimed Ron."We're finally back!" I giggled. "So, who's head boy?" he asked.
I took in a breath "Draco Malfoy"
Harry almost spat out the chocolate frog he was eating. "Malfoy? Head boy?"
"Yes"
"You're kidding right?"
"No, I'm not boys. And as a matter of fact, he's not actually that bad"
"Yeah right" sniggered Ron.
