Wiccans often set aside a sacred surface or space called an altar. This is usually decorated with a wand, incense, candles, a chalice, an athame, symbols of the elements (earth, air, water, fire, and spirit), and depictions of the God and Goddess. An altar may be permanent or set up specific to a ritual. Altars can vary on size, shape, and color.
