Hermione Jean Granger was born on September 19, 1979 in England, Great Britain. Both her parents are Muggle Dentists. They are a little amused by their unusual daughter. Hermione has sometimes been referred to as a 'Mudblood' (a witch or wizard born to non-magical folk). She found out that she was a witch when she got her Hogwarts acceptance letter (it is still unknown whether or not she showed magical ability before then), and when she got all her school textbooks she read them all front to back before even starting Hogwarts. On the Hogwarts Express she says to Ron and Harry (meeting them for the first time), "Of course, I've only tried a few simple spells myself and they've all worked for me." Hermione loves to read, study, and do everything school related. When she started Hogwarts, on September 1, 1991 she was almost 12 years old.
