Introduction
Chapter 1
Muggles. Some people think that we are in every way, totally, completely, absolutely disconnected from these people. BUT, in the past, when ever a muggle invented something that drastically changed the world, we magical folk have adapted to using that invention, sometimes we adapt more quickly to other inventions than others. But none the less, muggles have infiltrated our society so much, that we don't realize it. I remember being a child, and back then, we didn't use cars even though the muggles got to. So, when it came to drop off little Rose Aralia for her first day at Mugwump's Pacific Academy (it's a Canadian school), instead of taking a car, like we did in my later years at the academy, we had to ride on broom sticks part of the way there, and then we had to walk ten miles to the train station! And this was with all our heavy bags and everything! It wasn't until 1959, that the Ministries of Magic let magic folk use cars and busses.
If you are somehow still not convinced that muggle inventions are in and are helping our world, and you haven't even THOUGHT abought how a muggle innovation might have affected your life, then let me ask you this: how did you get to Hogwarts? Well, unless you live in Hogsmade, you would have taken the train. The train, as we all know, was invented by a muggle. And I assume that you eat with a spoon and fork every day, well let me tell you also this: those were invented by muggles! Clocks, socks and electric shocks? All pure glorious muggle inventions!
I hope you decide to use this textbook for good, and not evil!
Yours Very Truly,
Rose Aralia Jane Hopkins
