Prologue

Chapter 2

A one year old girl named Dia was just about to be placed in her bed by her mother, Rose. But a moment before, her dad, Hatch had ran into the room. He talked quietly with Rose for a moment. Dia looked from her mother to her father. Why were they sad? The poor baby had no idea what was going on. All she knew was that she was going upstairs, being put into a basket, and being hidden under a box. She heard her parents reassuring each other, saying things like "Don't worry. They'll never find her here." and "It's okay. We raised her in secret. Nobody will even be looking for her." She was confused. Then her parents wrapped a blanket around her and took off her necklace, giving it to her baby child. Then there was a flash of green light that could be seen through the floorboards of the rickety attic.

Rose looked up at Hatch in fear. Hatch spoke softly and quietly. "Hide Dia, and then hide yourself, away from her. So if one of you dies, then at least the other will probably survive. I'll buy you time." Hatch ran out of the room and went to duel the death eater.

Rose looked around, breathing hard and fast. She then hid the child in the corner of the room and surrounded her by boxes so from afar, it would only look like a pile of boxes. Then Rose ran out of the room, never looking back once.

Rose ran to the baby's room far from the attic and barely had time to close the door behind her when she heard, "AVADA KEDAVRA!" And a body crumple to the ground. Rose looked around for something to bolt the door with, and started to drag Dia's crib across the room to the door. She managed to get the crib in place, along with a couple of chairs and boxes, when footsteps passed by her door, then stopped. Rose held her breath, completely silent. A box tumbled off of the pile bolting the door shut, and her hiding place was revealed. The door splintered, then blasted open, destroying itself and everything in its way.

Rose pulled out her wand and shouted, "Stupefy!" The cloaked figure standing at the doorway dodged, and shot a killing curse back. Rose tried to dodge, but it hit her in the chest, and she screamed. Then she fell to the floor, very much dead. Lord Voldemort left the house after that, never suspecting that a child was watching Rose's demise through the floorboards, never even thinking about there being anyone else in the house. But a one year old girl was, and she would always remember that night for the rest of her life.
