Chapter 8

Abigail floated inside of the Eaglesclaw school library, waiting for
Jade, Alana, and West to arrive. They were students who trusted her, who
understood her. She had helped to rescue West from the Lagamorph last
month, and now Alana and Jade included her in their circle of friends.
Abigail had something very important to tell the girls, and she knew
that with the three of them, her warnings and stories would not go
unheard.

There they came now, Alana looking sweaty and
triumphant, Jade looking cheerful as she flipped her scarf over her
shoulder, West looking a little disappointed but still proud.

"Hello, girls," said Abigail, floating over to join them. "Why so happy?"
"Alana won her Quidditch match!" Jade whooped. Alana thrust her arms into a 'V' of victory, and West held her nose.
"250 to 60 against Lammasador!" Alana whooped.
"Yeah," West said sullenly.

"Cheer up, Westie," said Jade. "Lammasador is going to win next time."
"Oh, alright," said West, smiling softly. "And we have choir practice tonight!"
"Girls,
I have something very important that I have to share with you." At the
sound of Abigail's voice, all three girls looked up at their friend.
Abigail continued. "Last night, when I was checking the borders as
usual, I...saw something I shouldn't have."
"What did you see?" Alana pressed. "Was is funny? Was one of the professors drunk with a lampshade on their head? I just bet it was Professor Morris."
"I...I
don't want to talk about it," Abigail said. If she could have, she
would have blushed. Even so, her voice was wobbling as she spoke. "It
has ties to something that happened a long time ago, when I was a
student at Eaglesclaw myself."

"Abigail, we can't help you if you aren't giving us any information," West said, trying to stare at the ghostly girl and instead staring right through her.

Jade shot her friends a shrewd look. "When...when exactly were you a student here, Abigail?"

"I was a student in 1821. That's when the Wind- never you mind." She sniffed in an offended manner.

"Thank you, Abigail," said Jade. "That's all I needed to know. See ya!" She began to dash off, leaving Abigail looking confused.

"Where are you going?" Abigail cried.

"To the library! We have some serious research to do."
