Chapter 1
Austin Wilson, age of ten, was small for his age. Black hair, blue eyes, and light skin, he was pretty good-looking. He was also bored out of his life. It was the twenty-seventh day of school, and already was bored. Only one hundred and fifty three more school days left, he thought, trying to look at the ups. That only made him feel worse. He played with his pencil, thinking about Egyptian culture as usual. For some reason Egyptian culture interested him a LOT. He thought about the construction of king Tut's tomb when the bell rang. He yelled, "YES!" and ran out the school. He got on his bike and zoomed on home. He lived about 7 miles away from home, so he always had to ride longer than other kids. He passed intersections, and all the houses whizzed by as he thought about Egypt. He was so engrossed in thought that he hit a truck. "Ack!" he yelled and tumbled across the road. He heard a crunch. Cars and trucks passed him as he lied on the ground, in blinding pain. Someone pulled over and ran to him. "Are you okay?" asked a girl who looked like she was sixteen. "Oww!" Austin cried. He was usually the toughest guy around, but this was just too much. He said, "I-I'm fine," and looked around for his bike. The girl saw what he was doing and said, "Oh, a car smashed your bike. Sorry," He gaped at her. He felt a trickle on his lets and automatically looked down. Blood streamed from cuts, forming pools of blood at his feet. "Hold on, I'm calling the hospital." The girl said, typing on her phone. Soon an ambulance arrived, and they brought him to the hospital. They called his mother and looked at the cuts. "It'll be fine, but he'll have scars all over his legs for the rest of his life." the nurse explained. He sighed and exited the hospital. He asked his mother if he could see where his bike had crashed. His mother said yes, and he went to the scene. He looked at his crushed bike. He had saved up for one whole year for that bike... and now it was gone, destroyed. He looked at where he crashed. He noticed something peculiar. Sand was forming a trail from the truck he had crashed into.
