#4) The Crushing Sadness
Chapter 6
After I found out Daisy was paralyzed, I sulked in my room for weeks. Unless you have a disabled sibling, you'll never understand. I had several empty cups, takeout boxes, and a pile of dirty clothes. I hadn't left my room, except for bathroom trips. It was Saturday when I finally left my room. "She's alive!" My mother exclaimed, handing me a cup of coffee, holding a sleeping Angel in the other hand. Daisy wheeled in. I smiled at her, as she brutally cut up her pancakes. No one had seen her for days, and I imagined her room looked even worse than mine. The doctor had let her take a bedpan home, which I thought was really REALLY disgusting. Ever since she got into a wheelchair, she was never the same. She had stopped smiling, stopped making jokes. I knew we all noticed it, even Angel. "Here, Mom, let me put Angel into her crib." I said, taking her out of Mom's arms. She looked very tired, and when she gets up in the middle of the night with the baby, we all got up with her. I, I just needed to get away, just for a little bit. I opened the door to her room, decorated a light pink with white polka dots. I set her in the crib, her instantly reaching for her stuffed animal. I put it in her arms, tiptoed out, slowly shutting the door. The window in the hall was open, and I saw a chance. I wiggled out the window, my feet lightly landing on the grass. Someone must of saw me. "Hey!" A teenage boy called. "You sneaking out? You can come with me." He said looking me over. "Sorry, Acne-Face. I don't mess with the likes of you." I said, shooting a sharp glance at him. He walked up to me. I pushed him, and he pushed back. My gut said headbutt him, and that's what I did. "OW!!" He yelled, hands covering his nose, a little blood streaming out. I ran far away, almost halfway across town.
