After I had read the book, my mother took me to the beach. I had never seen so much water in one place, and for a moment I was transfixed. My new bathing suit was under my clothes, and I ripped them off. I somehow felt as if I knew how to swim, but my mom had one request before I went in. "Sing as you go in" she said. I thought this was a strange request, but did it anyways. As I submerged myself in the ocean, I began to sing. Then the scary things began to happen. My legs were no longer separate and when I looked down at them I screamed. I had one long, black tail, about eight feet long. I screamed louder, but my mother just smiled. This was all so crazy. The heads began popping out of the water, people jumping out of the waves, all of them with tails as well. That's when I blacked out.
