A Class Without A Teacher
Chapter 1
The bell rang to mark the commencement of the first class of
the day. Students trooped in the great hall after a quick and hasty breakfast
to rush to their various classes. The Hufflepuff fourth year students arrived
one by one as the Charms classroom seated themselves in the neat and clean
wooden benches, awaiting for their head of house .the first benchers have
already taken their books out. One wizard with large spectacles flicked through
the pages of the standard book of spells. The witch sitting next to him had her
quill out and was rechecking her essay on vanishing charms. The scratching of
her quill on yellow parchment can be heard.
Professor Flitwick was rather late. Two witches giggled uncontrollably. They
were practicing tickling charm on each other. A few students had brought a set
of Gobstones and were playing in the back of the class. The huge windows in the
classroom looked out into the Hogwarts playgrounds. A group of students gathered by the window
,watching the Slytherine Quidditch practice outside. The three Hufflepuff
fourth years who were in their house team argued about their game tactics while
carefully observing their opponent team play. The great lake could be seen in
the distance. The giant squid is basking brilliantly in the sun. A few seniors
were there beside the lake spending some of their leisure times. Two witches, namely
Peach and Pear, talked gaily of butterbeer and Berty Bott’s Every Flavoured Beans. The Whomping Willow stood
still far right. A wizard was frantically finishing his transfiguration homework
although he was copying some from his friend. A creative boy was making a paper
aero plane. His friend attempted the Levitation Charm on it. The aero plane
rose up in great heights and hovered in the mid-air and zoomed around the
room following it’s wand’s movement. A babble of laughter and talk was in the
class. Everyone was relaxed and overjoyed to get a free class. A couple of boys
were deep in discussion about their favourite Quidditch players. They argued
lightly over holy harpies and Chudley Cannons.a few wizards exchanged chocolate
frog cards. They filled a sensation of jocularity in the air. A very studious
wizard sat in the corner learning spells. Some witches and wizards were reading
the daily prophet. A mischievous boy whispered “engorgio” pointing his wand at
the studious boy’s satchel which grew bigger and expanded in size. The boy got
annoyed and told him to stop. He shook his wand trying to undo the charm but
the bag continued to expand. The fourth years have not studied the shrinking
charm yet. The wizard was alarmed and the guilty wizard was flustered, flicking
and swishing his wand. The rest of the students watched the funny scene. Suddenly the bag jumped back to its original
size. Unnoticed by the distraction made in the class, Professor Minerva McGonagall
entered the class. She strictly prohibited us from making such a big nuisance
in the class. she named us as “hooligans” and then left.
Suddenly the bell rang with a pleasant voice of a sweet girl saying “c’mon
students, end of class, head to your next classes, thank you”. We all headed to
potions class. Today i saw the class in their seventh heaven and my mind is
full of joy.
