Chapter 4

Chinese Unicorns

This strange and wonderful beast is the Qilin, the Chinese Unicorn. This noble beast has been known as an omen of good fortune, among other things. Come and let's explore this one a bit more. Please note that this chapter may be considerably longer than the others.

Physical Appearance:

There is a lot to take in when we talk about the Qilin in terms of what it looks like. It appears to look somewhere between dragon and deer, yet still it is very much a unicorn. Just a unicorn covered in scales and with a horn that looks more like an antler than anything else. Much like snakes or dragons, they come in a variety of colors, and have iridescent scales that can be used in many a healing potion.

Temperament:

These majestic beings are usually very calm and collected, like water in a quiet pool. They are reflective and serene for the most part, showing anger only in the most dire of times.

Notable Abilities/Lore:

The Qilin was said to appear upon the arrival or death of a wise or illustrious ruler in China, and was said to have invented the writing language of early China, as well as to have predicted the birth of the muggle Confucius. The Qilin and the next unicorn share magical abilities, among those being the capacity to stare into your eyes and judge your soul, sending it to it's next resting place, should it find you unworthy.

Japanese Unicorns

Truth be told there is very little different between the Kirin and the Qilin aside from the lore attached. The Kirin is smaller and faster, and tends to live in groups rather than alone as the Qilin does. They are also more vibrant, seeming to glow with thier own light.
