European Unicorns

Chapter 2

This unicorn is by far one of the most common depictions, as well as the one most commonly encountered by witches and wizards of all sorts, though admittedly more often it is a witch that will encounter one, though not for the reasons we originally thought.

Physical Description:

These beautiful animals are lithe, seemingly delicate animals that stand only about fourteen hands high[ hands is a measure of height in equestrian language] and are usually pale white, grey, or cremello in color.

Below is an example of Cremello coloring as seen on a common horse.

The horn upon the beast's head is usually a pale silver color, with a white tip.

Temperament

Ordinarily these unicorns are quiet and reserved creatures, often preferring to live in isolation or in small family units of up to three at most. They tend to be the more gentle of the unicorns as well, especially compared to some of the others you will find in this book. They are also said to be capable of telapathic speech, though I've yet to actually come back with any solid proof of this. Which leads us into the next segment of this chapter....

Special Abilities.

Now, all unicorns are magical, and all possess some of the same traits, those being Immortality,Healing, and Poison detection. The European unicorn, aside from the afore mentioned abilities, seems to be able to detect poison and walk on water, both admirable traits. But by most standards they are relatively simple.

A common misconception

Something I have heard frequently is that unicorns avoid men simply because they are male. This is not the case, not in the least. If you think about it,throughout human history, which gender have been hunters longer? Which of them would by nature pose the most threat? Men, by a historical standpoint, are more of a threat to them, and over generations, unicorns have learned this.

And while the European unicorn would rather run away, the unicorn in our next chapter would have a much more bloody alternative in mind for a would be attacker.
