Chapter 12
"What the hell?" I yelled to Scott and I pulled his hands off of my waist. "What do you think you're doing? What's wrong with you, get away from me!" I exclaimed as I slowly backed away from him.
"Woah, chill Danni." Scott said with a smirk.
"Don't call me that!" I yelled at Scott and I felt nothing but complete rage towards him.
"Look, why are you so mad at me? You're the one who let it all happen!" he said defensively.
"Because I thought you were Jake!" I shouted, a little too loudly than I had expected.
"Whatever, I know you knew it was me. And how do you plan on keeping this from Jake?" Scott said.
"Oh, hey guys!" I heard Jake call.
My heart skipped a beat. Oh crap, what was I going to tell Jake? Going over a quick plan in my head, I turned around to face Jake. He looked a little puzzled and his hair was drenched with sweat.
"What's going on?" he asked me.
"Nothing....just ran into Scott while I was trying to find you," I said not even looking him in the eye. Well, it's not like I was lying to him. I literally did run into him.
"Oh, cool," Jake said awkwardly.
"Well, see you guys later," Scott mumbled as he walked away.
I was still a little dazed from what happened. I knew I must have been staring at the floor for a little while because Jake said, "Danni, what's wrong? Did he say something to you?"
"No, he didn't say anything. It's just..." I didn't know what to tell him.
"Hey, you can tell me anything," Jake said sweetly as he wrapped his arm over my shoulder.
I wish I could, I thought. I knew I had no other choice, I had to lie to Jake. Just for now, so I could think of something else to tell him later. But I didn't know what to tell him right now; my mind was drawing a blank.
"Er...well he kind of told me he had a girlfriend," I said slowly. I realized that this didn't even make any sense.
"Oh," Jake said with a hurt look on his face. "Does that bother you?" he asked me.
"No! Not at all," I said to him. He thought I was jealous of his girlfriend. I didn't want him to get the wrong impression, even though it was a lie.
"Alright then, why are you so uncomfortable then?" he asked me suspiciously.
"Because.....because he made it sound like I should be jealous," I told him. That didn't make any sense either.
"Okay, whatever. Let's not talk about Scott right now," he said and I knew that ended the discussion.
Jake grabbed my waist and gently pushed me against the wall. He put his mouth next to my ear and whispered, "I'm glad you read my note."
"Me too," I sighed as he started gently kissing my neck.
I looked down at my watch and read the time. I jumped a little when I realized what the time was; the bell would ring any second now and people would start coming out of the corridors.
I pushed Jake off of me and when he asked what was wrong, I picked by bag up from the floor and told him the bell would be ringing.
"Who cares?" he said as he smiled and put his arm around my shoulders. He was a bit tall, so he slouched down a little doing this.
"Let's go," I told him and we walked up to the Gryffindor Common Room together. I went up to my dormitory without looking back at Jake and flopped onto my bed.
I felt extremely guilty about what I had done and even more guilty for not telling Jake about it. I knew I would have to tell him soon and I was definitely not looking forward to that.
