Chapter 11

"Danielle!" I hear Jake call as I was about to walk into Transfiguration.

I turned around and saw him running towards me. "What is it?" I asked him, taking his hand as he finally reached me.

He took a few seconds to catch his breath, but when he finally did, he handed me a small, folded up piece of parchment with the word "Danni" written neatly on it. It was what he called me now, since he though "Danielle" was just too long. I kind of liked my new nickname, though.

I looked up at Jake and was about to ask him what is was when he cut me off before I even started to talk. "Open it and read it as soon as you get into the classroom and do what it says. Sorry, I have to run, I'm going to be late for Charms!" He quickly gave me a kiss on my cheek and ran off into the corridor.

Well, that was something, I thought. I walked into the classroom and sat at the back of the classroom. Once everybody had settled down and Professor McGonagall had started talking, I unfolded Jake's note and tried to read his messy handwriting. After a few seconds, I managed to make out "11:30 outside Potions classroom."

I knew what he meant; he wanted me to meet him there. I checked my watch to see how how time I had left, and had to do a double take when I saw the time. It was 11:25. I had five minutes to get to Jake, which meant that I had to leave now. Without thinking, I raised my hand and said, "Professor McGonagall!"

She looked a little taken aback that someone had interrupted her, but she said, "Do you have a question about how this spell works, Miss Hale?"

"No, it's just that I have a really bad stomach ache. Can I go to the hospital wing, please?" I told her. I suddenly realized that I had to actually pretend to act sick, so I clutched my stomach and slouched over.

"Very well, Miss Hale. Take your things with you and remember to get your notes from a fellow classmate afterwards" she said as she turned back to the class.

"Thank you, Professor" I said, while nearly running out of the classroom.

I had my bag swinging on my shoulder while I was running. I checked my watch again and saw that the time was 11:28. Only two more minutes and I was still so far away. I started running a little faster because I knew Jake would think I ditched him if I showed up even a little bit late.

After a little longer, I was about to turn a corner to get to the Potions corridor when I felt a familiar hand stretch out in front of me and pull me into a kiss. I closed my eyes because I knew it was obviously Jake. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he put his hands on my waist. Oddly enough, something felt a little different, but I could not figure out what. I pulled back from the kiss and what I saw shocked me.

It wasn't Jake that pulled me into a kiss...

It was Scott.
