Elettra
I woke up the next morning to Daphne jumping on my bed, "Come on! We're going to be late for breakfast!" She exclaims and yanks the covers off of me, I cried out in protest as the cold air brushed against my skin, "I loathe you." I hissed at her and put on my new uniform, I quickly tied my emerald and silver tie around my neck and Daphne grabbed my arm and pulled me through the common room as Thief quickly followed behind us, "Slow down!" I shouted as she picked up her speed and yanked me through the halls, we came to the great hall and she finally slowed to a stop, "God woman! You're a maniac." I muttered and scanned the hall for Remy, "Looking for me?" His Cajun accent rang into my ear, "Of course I am." I said softly and he wrapped his arms around my waist, "How'd ya sleep?" He asked me as I pulled him in for a big hug, "Great, I love the Slytherin common room. It's so cozy." I said to him and we pulled away, "Isn't it under the lake?" Remy asked and I quickly nodded, he went on to say he met some fantastic Ravenclaw's that could be friends, but he'd have to wait and see. "I'm hungry, so I'm going to go to my table, I'll see you later Remy." I told him and he hugged me again as I ran off to Daphne, "I'm so hungry, but I'm so nervous." Patience said across from us, "You'll be fine, I doubt there will be any problems." I reassured her and dug into some sausage and pancakes, "You're from a muggle city called New York, right?" Adrian Pucey asked me and I nodded, "Yeah, why?" I asked him and Adrian shrugged, "After class, would tell me about it? It sounds quite interesting." He said and I nodded, "Of course." I looked over to the Gryffindor table and saw Harry, Ron and Hermione talking with an older red headed boy, and of course there isn't anything strange about that, except they were all glaring at me. I raised an eyebrow, but turned away from them and back to my food, "Ms. Stark." A stuffy voice drawled, I turned and saw a tall man with greasy black hair standing behind me, "Your timetable." He drawled again and I sent him a wide smile, I half expected him to return said smile, but all he did was scrunch his nose up and continue on his way.
"That was Professor Severus Snape, he's never quite nice to us. I mean, he favors us slightly more than McGonagall favors the Gryffindors, but no less then Professor Sprout favors the Hufflepuffs." Marcus Flint explained to me, I nodded slowly and went back to eating my food, "Eat faster, class starts in five minutes." Marcus said and I nodded again, Daphne and I stuffed our faces which caused Marcus to laugh at our expressions, "I'm not amused." I said with food in my mouth, "Lovely." He muttered and I swallowed my food, "Thank you! I'll be here until you graduate." I joked and he laughed, "Come on, class starts soon, and I don't want you two to get lost." Marcus said and he arose from the table with Adrian, "Come on first years." Adrian joked and pulled us from the table, "What class do you have first?" Marcus asked us as we pushed through the sea of students leaving, "Charms." We answered as we got shoved around, I clung to Daphne's arm and she clung to Marcus, with one simple shove I accidently fell onto someone, "Watch it, Snake." I heard someone hiss, "Sorry." I muttered and Adrian pulled me off of whoever I fell on, "Treat the first years with some respect, Wood." He growled at a brunette boy, "Well, maybe she should have watched where she was going." Wood responded as two identical boys walked over to us, "Are these Slytherins bothering you, Oliver?" They asked in unison, Marcus grabbed my shoulder and pushed me away from them, "Why don't you three run along? We all have somewhere to be." Marcus snapped and ushered Daphne and I through the halls, "Who were they?" Daphne asked the boys and they shared a look. "Gryffindors, the twins are Fred and George Weasley, the brunette was Oliver Wood. He's the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain. They are the ones that booed whenever someone was sorted into Slytherin." Marcus mumbled and wrapped an arm around my shoulder, "I wouldn't worry about them, they just think that most Slytherin's are evil." He whispered to me and I gave him a confused look, "But, they don't even know us. Why would they think we're evil?" I ask him and Marcus shrugged, "Slytherin hasn't had the best luck, but we care about the people in our house, we've been classified as something we're not." Adrian explained as we walked into a huge classroom, "That doesn't sound right." Daphne mused as a sad look crossed her happy face, "We'll meet up with you outside after your class, Daphne, I wouldn't worry about Gryffindors." Marcus told her and they walked out, Daphne and I took our seats closer to the back of the class. Class continued on as we had a tiny teacher who continued to trip throughout the class, it was exciting to watch everything play out, after class Daphne and I quickly ran out and straight into Adrian and Marcus, "Hey." I greeted and they returned my smile, "Alright let's get going." Adrian said and we ran to our next class. The week continued on like that, I would wake up with Daphne and go eat breakfast, then Marcus and Adrian would pretty much help us throughout the school, Adrian and I had officially started working on assignments together as partners, he was pretty cool, Pansy thinks I have a huge crush on him, but she's stalking Malfoy which is creepy as hell.
After a couple days, I sent a letter to Chuck, I told him how everything was here in England, and even though it's been such a short time I've spent here, I missed them, Remy and I drifted apart quickly, which I didn't really notice at first until I saw him hanging around a few girls, poor girls. Remy came over and talked for awhile at lunch everyday, it was kind of awkward really, I missed him, even though I could have gotten up and walked over to talk to him, but I didn't, he had his thing and I had mine. Although I wasn't to thrilled about that, I had learned who not to go near and who to stay around, Fred and George Weasley had already tried to prank me, but back at the mansion I was the prankster, and I always knew the signs someone had put the prank in my room or was about to prank me, the twins had thrown dung bombs in the Slytherin common room and as soon as I saw the flash of red hair in the entrance way, I dove behind the couch to hide, I was the only own that did. Poor kids. It was already Friday and I had been called evil a total of 13 times, I was done with that already, and Daphne had grown slightly sad with being in the "evil house", but as today hit, we were both irritated with people whispering about how the supposedly great Harry Potter was in Gryffindor, but the other child that survived Voldemort was going to go down the same path as him. "Hey!" Patience greeted as Daphne and I walked to Potions, "Hey." I responded as Daphne gave her a wide smile and an energetic wave, "Okay, I have to ask. Is anyone else annoyed with the whole Elettra and Granger competing thing on the first week?" Patience asked with a laugh and I rolled my eyes, "I earned us 115 points since the first day, I'm very determined to be at the top of my class, sue me!" I exclaimed, the girls laughed as we entered the dark, kind of spooky, classroom. Yes, it was true, Hermione Granger and I had grown a feud already, we're smart and not afraid to show it, and currently we're tied for top of our classes and it's the first week. I'm not trying to exactly knock her ego down a couple pegs, but since we are talking about it, yeah I guess I am trying to knock her down a few pegs, but that's what I've always done, I compete against my peers, like I said SUE ME! "You two are already bickering, I wonder how the rest of the year is going to play out for you two." Daphne mumbled and I rolled my eyes as we took our seats, "Come on, if you had a chance to compete over something you were passionate about and some girl attempts to knock you down and show you up, are you really going to let her?" I asked them and they both shook their heads, "See, now I know she has this need to be at the top of her class, obviously, but I'm me. I wasn't the overall best in my classes back home, so yeah, I am very determined to finish at the top of my classes." I huffed, "I understand that." Patience said softly and I smiled. I heard a loud, obnoxious laugh come from the hallway and Parkinson skipped in with her annoying friends. "I can't believe I used to be friends with her." Patience grumbled as Parkinson took the seats behind us, "Hi Patience!" She cheered and Patience gave her a little wave.
"Did you see Draco today? He looked so hot today." Pansy drawled and I growled in annoyance, "Can I kill her?" I asked Daphne and she shook her head, "Only if I can help." Daphne hissed back, I looked down at my hands and automatically I had everyone's thoughts in my heads, "Goddamn." I whispered and read through them, in all my years at the mansion, Chuck could never help me with my telepathy, whenever I wasn't talking to someone vocally, everyone around me would suddenly appear in my head, anything they are thinking. And it's annoying as hell. Out of all of them one stood out, someone thinking about Harry Potter's mother Lily, it stood out to me because whoever it was, was very passionate about her, I couldn't place it, but whoever it was, was close. As I focused on it, a much louder thought came through, it was talking about me and I immediately switched my focus to it, 'I should just go in and check on her, it won't be stupid. Maybe it will. I don't know. I'm talking to myself. I don't want to come off as an older brotherly figure.' it said and I raised an eyebrow, it got much more clear and I recognized the voice, but I couldn't place it. Suddenly Adrian ran into the classroom, "Hey Elettra." He greeted and it matched the voice, 'What if she's getting the impression I'm overprotective by checking on her, why am I crushing on a first year.' he complained, I was slightly happy he didn't say any of that out loud, "Hey Adrian, 'sup?" I responded with a nervous smile, "I just wanted to pop in, say hello." He mumbled and I nodded, "Cool, class is starting soon, you should probably run to McGonagall's class since it's on the other side of the school." I whispered, "Oh yeah, I'll see you after class." Adrian muttered before turning on his heel, I quickly read his mind before he left the classroom, 'She thinks I'm a creep, I know it. Bloody hell.' I rolled my eyes and ran after him, "Where are you going?" Patience asked me and I shrugged, "I gotta talk to Adrian." I sighed and spun into the hallway, I saw the familiar light brown hair of Adrian rushing through the halls, "Adrian!" I shouted after him and quickly realized I had no idea what I was going to say to him, he turned around and waved at me, "Hello." Adrian said with a smile as I reached him, "I just wanted to say...thank you for helping with Hogwarts, so far. It's quite different then New York. You're a good friend." I softly told him and Adrian chuckled, "No problem. I was happy to help." He responded and I quickly turned on my heel to skipped back to the classroom, I ran to my seat before Professor Snape could enter the room and just as I reached my seat, he entered.
Snape walked slowly, glaring at each and every one of us as he came to the front of the room, he slowly started roll call, he stopped as he reached Harry's name, "Ah, yes." He commented and glared in his direction, "Harry Potter, our new celebrity." Snape snapped at him, he continued on and as soon as he reached my name, he looked to me, "Elettra Stark, how interesting." He mumbled and sent me a weird look. "As there is little foolish wand waving here," One way to be a villain is to say everything is foolish or call everyone fools, "Many of you will hardly believe this is magic. I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of shimmering liquids, the sweet power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses. I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stop death. If you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads I usually teach." He said quickly, Snape scanned the room before his glare landed on Harry, I knew very quickly in that moment, something bad was about to go down, "Potter!" Snape snapped, oh god no. "What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Snape asked him, he's so going to crush Harry like a bug! "I don't know, sir." Snape turned his evil gaze to me, I decided to use my telepathy on him instead of actually saying anything out loud, "If you expect me to answer that, I will crush you like the serpent you are." I glared at him and he gave me a nod, "Let's try this again, Potter. Where would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?" Now, this is a question I know the answer to, "I don't know sir." Harry told him, "Well then, Ms. Stark, do you know the answer?" Snape asked, "You always come to the right person, the stomach of a goat, and it will save you from many poisons." I answered with a successful smirk, "Correct, Ms. Stark." Snape practically growled before going back to practically shouting at everyone. I began to drum my fingers against the desk, every so often earning a glare from Daphne or Snape. As I did, the thoughts entered again, loud but I paid attention to each and every one of them. "Ms. Stark!" Snape's voice rang out and I jumped out of my chair in fear, causing the whole room to laugh as I did so, "Your partner is Ms. Granger." My jaw dropped, Granger? Really? We'll kill each other. "Snape, I'm gonna tell you why that is not going to happen," I started off, "I, that being me, can not work with a girl who will always be at the same level I am, give me a challenge. You put me and Granger together, you'll soon realize that we'll be much farther ahead then the rest." Snape glared at me, but soon turned his attention to Hermione, who had mumbled a quiet, "She has a point there." Me and her shared a look and I gave her a respectful nod, "We'll see about that, you two are partners." With a death glare in his direction, I switched seats with some Gryffindor girl.
We barely talked, I had her grab the ingredients, grabbing the mortar, I started to crush snake fangs, "What do you think you're doing?" Granger asked me in her weird accent, I'm gonna be livin' here, I think I need to get used to British people talking to me, "I'm crushing snake fangs to put in the potion, you are going to heat up the cauldron, I am going to put some of these in the cauldron. Why? Did I crush the fangs clockwise, instead of counter-clockwise?" I asked with a laugh, the fluffy haired girl shook her head, "You didn't even look at the book!" She snapped and a loud growl appeared from the back of my throat, "I don't need to, now go get the horned slugs ready." I ordered and Granger gave a scoff in return. That's when I stopped crushing the fangs, I flipped my hair over my shoulder and looked at her, "The snake fangs are already crushed, the horned slugs are in that cabinet over there! Just go grab them and come back, it's not that hard!" I shouted at her and I could feel people stare at us. "I don't need the girl from the prestigious city of New York telling me what to do!" My anger bubbled under the surface, "I'm from Brooklyn!" With that little outburst, I turned back to what I was doing, like the stupid exchange didn't even happen. As Granger quietly shuffled away, I heated the Cauldron for a few seconds before adding the snake fangs. "Now we wait for forty five minutes." Granger said over my shoulder and I dropped into my chair, "Yeah." I grumbled slightly. The rest of the class was at the same waiting period we were. She sat across from me, we shared awkward looks, waiting for the forty-five minutes to end quickly. She fiddled with her fingers and I slipped into her mind, 'Merlin's beard, this is awkward.' Can't say I disagree, Granger. Maybe I should give her a good scare, say something to her through our telepathy link, this might be fun..."Forty five minutes is almost up." With that she gave a small scream in surprise, then I started laughing. I thought this was hilarious! I did this to the guys back at the Mansion all the time! I liked giving them that little shock, although I don't think I had wrapped my mind around the fact that I wasn't with mutants anymore, I am surrounded by wizards and witches! It's like using telepathy on normal humans.
The forty five minutes passed quicker then imagined, Granger tried to pick one up again, but it moved, quickly! I reached over and tried to pick one up, but it wiggled out of my hands, "Okay, that was kind of gross." I commented and she chuckled at my statement, "What if we use a spell?" The clever Gryffindor suggested, "We may be rival houses, but I like the way you think." I took my wand out of my boot, just swish and flick, I may have not had the exact class for this spell yet, but I hard already memorized it, "Wingardium Leviosa." I chanted, the horned slugs levitated into the cauldron one at a time, and soon all four were inside. Granger took the cauldron off of the fire, "Next is two porcupine quills." I told her and she dropped them in. The potion bubbled as I began stirring the cauldron. With a wave of my wand, it was perfect. And I should know, I brewed it! Then an explosion went off behind us, my reflexes kicked in and I tackled Granger to the ground, in an effort to keep her safe. Hermione looked terrified as I did so, I quickly jumped to my feet, two Gryffindor boys had managed to melt through the pot, which I don't understand, I mean seriously! It's the simplest potion in the world! One of them had sprouted boils across his skin. Snape stormed towards them, it was times like these when I knew drama was about to go down, I liked watching drama play out with Remy. "Idiot boy!" Our greasy haired professor roared, the leftover potion had made it's way to the floor, all of us either jumped on our desks or our chairs, hoping not to be touched by the potion. "I suppose you didn't take the cauldron before you added the quills?" I rolled my eyes at our professor's behavior, although the student's should have followed the directions, Snape turned towards Harry with anger in his dark eyes, he shouted at him about how Harry should have paid attention to the potion that exploded. The young Gryffindor went to argue, but Weasley held him back, "Idiots." I mumbled as I got off of my desk, "It wasn't Harry's fault, the professor was being a little to harsh to him." I raised an eyebrow at her and put a smirk on my face, "It may not have been the chosen one's fault, but if you can't follow simple directions to the most simple potion in the world, come on how idiotic must you be?" Daphne walked over to me hesitantly, "I almost did that." She whispered and I clenched my fist, "I'm quite sorry for calling you an idiot." I whispered back and wrapped my arm around her, "People make mistakes, this is our first year here! No one is going to be as perfect as you." Hermione snapped at me. My head snapped towards her, I let out a chuckle, "You're pretty funny, Granger." With that, I grabbed my bag and walked out with the rest of my class.
