My First Week/September 7Th
Chapter 2
September 7th (Monday)
Sorry I haven't written in you since after my sorting. It has been a week now and I haven't stopped loving Hufflepuff. It is so much fun here! We usually have studying get nights where the older students of Hufflepuff help with homework and we also have foods since we have 24/7 access to the kitchens! Charlotte and I usually hang out with a sixth year named Evani who helps us with our homework. The classes seem really fun and nice so far! My favorite by far is Herbology though I am not very good at it. We have Herbology and Potions with the Ravenclaws, which is really fun since we can hang out with Lucas that time! We also have a couple hours a day during the week and we have all day on the weekend.
Other Hufflepuffs say that the first month is the worst for homework till your 5th year and 7th years but so far it isn't too bad. Speaking of other kids, some Gryffindor was calling Charlotte a Mud-blood which was horrible! Oh! I forgot to tell you that Lucas and Charlotte are Muggleborn and I am a Pure-blood. Anyways, most of the Gryffindors I have met have been nice but this one was so rude and mean! I got really angry at him but Charlotte said to just leave so we both left. We went down to meet up with Lucas on the banks of the lake, that is like out meet-up area. We will hang-out there when we have time and exchange stories. Lucas says that Ravenclaw is filled with books and super smart kids! He said he will introduce us once after the first month. I also explained what the different blood types were to Charlotte and she realized how rude the nickname Mud-blood is.
I also met another boy from Gryffindor named James who is a second year and likes to get in trouble. Charlotte and I hang out with him and his younger brother, Albus, who is in my year. They speak of their little sister, Lily, who is entering school next year and is one year older than Ellie. Oh and James and Albus are the kids of Harry Potter! Yup! The famous Potters! But I don't really care have famous their parents are. They are fun and that is all that really matters. Both of the boys are Gryffindor though they predict Lily will be a Slytherin. James told Charlotte, Lucas and I about the stories of Tom Riddle's diary. It made me a little fearful of this diary. You aren't alive are you?
Okay. I guess if you aren't replying you aren't alive. I wrote my second letter to my parents earlier. I am going to go to the owlery later and send it with one of the school owls since I don't have an owl and Lilac can't really send messages. They said in their last letter that Ellie has been very lonely without Jonas and I. Which reminds me! Jonas is a Ravenclaw 5th year so he is super busy studying for his O.W.L.s but he is taking his extra time to help me study and show me around. He says Lucas is really nice and smart and that he helps Lucas whenever he needs help. Jonas also was showing me secret rooms and stuff. He says that Hogwarts was rebuilt to an almost exact replica of the original. He also says they opened up around 1 year after the battle of Hogwarts. He knows a bunch about Hogwarts and it's history.
It is also a little weird because Jonas disappeared completely on the weekend. Lucas said he wasn't in the common room and two other Ravenclaws went missing. I was a little worried and asked around and people said those three and a Slytherin usually disappear on the weekends but reappear on Mondays. Charlotte, Lucas and I waited out by the lake for him and we were joined by James and Albus on Sunday. While we waited we talked about the future and what we would do as we grew older. Albus wants to be an Auror like his father and James wants to work for George at his joke shop. Albus thinks it wont get him far but James has hope. Charlotte was talking about teaching a subject she learned about called Muggle Studies. Lucas says he doesn't know what he wants to do yet. Right before class today I found Jonas walking around the castle grounds. When I asked where he was he turned away and went to class.
Charlotte and I have Herbology in the morning on Mondays after breakfast. I am really bad at Herbology though it is fun. At least Professor Longbottom is nice and kind about me not being the best. He told me about a couple books that could help me that I am going to check later. Maybe tonight I will go down to the library with Lucas while Charlotte takes her shower for the evening. Charlotte has a small schedule. She wakes up at 6 am on week days and 8 am on weekends. We both don't do very well in class but we are okay. We are better at some subject than others. I am actually pretty good at potions.
Anyways, Charlotte and I skipped have of my lunch so we could help Professor Longbottom clean up the greenhouses and so he could help us a bit with our homework. I am currently writing in you at lunch. I am eating a sandwich with an apple and a salad. Charlotte is in the bathroom and the others are sitting at their own tables. It looks like Charlotte is coming back now so I am going to finish up. I will write in you before bed time.
Hello again! I am back! It is now night. I went down to the Owlery to send my letter with Charlotte and Lucas since they wanted to send letters to their parents as well. While we were walking to the Owlery I asked Lucas about going to the library later tonight with me and he said he would love to! After we sent our letters we just hung out around the Owlery for a while, talking. Charlotte was telling me more about Norway. Did I tell you that they are from Norway but moved to Scotland? Well they did. It is really cool! Lucas was telling us about his time in classes and how he finds History of Magic interesting. I find it a bit boring but what are you going to do?
When we were done talking Charlotte went to take a shower and Lucas and I headed for the Library. He grabbed some books he needed and I found the books about Herbology I needed. We walked over to an empty table and started reading. Here is what went down:
"Why are you hanging out with another mud-blood, Grey?" The same Gryffindor who picked on Charlotte said, walking up to our table. I tried to ignore him but he kept speaking. "Mud-bloods shouldn't be in this school. Us purebloods should've been the only ones welcomed. We are the best after all."
"Well maybe your pureblood butt should just buzz off and leave us alone, Miller?" It took me by surprise that Lucas spoke up to him. I had looked up from my book to see Lucas staring at Matthew Miller, the school bully that everyone was surprised to see he was from Grffindor, the house that produced most of the fighters of the battle of Hogwarts.
"Oh, squeaker is speaking up?" And I couldn't just stay there helpless so I stood up and turned to Matthew Miller.
"Let's just leave, Lucas." I said and we just left for a different table.
It was weird seeing Lucas getting like that. After reading up a bit we decided to go back to our common rooms. We walked all the way to the staircase that lead to the kitchens and the Hufflepuff common together, talking about Herbology. When we reached the staircase I walked back to the common room and met with Charlotte to tell her everything. Now I am writing in you on my bed about to go to bed. I am really tired but I promised I would write in you.
Well if there is anything I have learned in my first week is that school is confusing, fun and a bit scary. I am still learning my way around and I thought it was going to be harder for Lucas and Charlotte but I forgot that their mothers were both witches.
Anyways, I am going to bed now. I will write in you hopefully tomorrow. I plan on going to classes then hanging out with James, Albus, Lucas and Charlotte by the lake again.
Night!
