Potions 101- Nasty Boils And Their Arch Enemy : Cure For Boils (Educational)
Chapter 1
INasty Boils And Their Arch Enemy Potion- A Short Story
wasn't sure about anyone else in my year or house was that excited
about conducting their first potion. The only thing I knew for certain
was that when I walked into the classroom I thought I was going to die
from excitement. Once glass had began, I put on my goggles and found my Pewter
(that was conveniently a size two) Cauldron. With a small parchment
with the instructions on it clutched in my hand.. I was ready to take on
the world. Leaning in, I listened carefully as Professor Batyaeva
informed us of the eye-rinsing station that was up front if anything were to go wrong. After becoming fully prepared, I looked down at my ingredients.
750 mL of Water
6 Snake Fangs
4 Horned Slugs
2 Porcupine Quills
Flobberworm Mucus
I
was obviously prepared and prepped for the fascinating day ahead of me.
My eyes fell down on the sheet of paper as I followed by- word for
word. There was no way that I was going to mess this up. Not now. Not
ever. After following through the first demanded steps of the Cure For
Boils, I stopped to heat my cauldron up. Following the directions- I put
it at 383 Kelvin (110*C/230*F). After ten seconds, I lowered the heat down to 363 Kelvin(90*C/194*F).
Next came the brewing process. I waved my wand once clockwise and watched the potion. To my delight, the potion became a pinkish color. Now that it was complete- I waited 22 minutes with
my pewter cauldron. Since there was really much to do- I struck a
conversation up with my friend who also had completed the first part of
the potion.
"How's it coming, Phoenix?" I asked, looking over my
red-haired and best friend's shoulder. Luckily- both of our colors had
nearly identical shades of pink. Both of sent our timer to make sure
that we didn't overlook the time that we had to brew our potions.
"Fine. Wow... this is time consuming.... but It's worth it. Right?" Phoenix chuckled lightly. "I found it easy so far." Of course she found it easy. She was a hufflepuff, none the less.
After
our timers went off, I headed back to giving my potion my full
attention. I picked up three horned slugs, adding them into my potion. I
went to turn off my heater when it hit me. There was one horned slug
left. Panic filled me, and I quickly added the fourth horned slug. Luckily I had caught my error before any damage was made.
I turned off the heat and added my two porcupine quills into
my pewter. After doing the steps and waiting the time that followed
that step- I knew it was coming to the end. So far- it looked like
everything was done wonderfully.
Turning off the heat, I observed the color to make sure it corresponded with what the parchment. Fortunately, it was a sky blue. I added the appropriate amount of Flobberworm Mucus.
Once it was stirred to a uniform-like consistency I grabbed a small
bottle. With relative ease, I grabbed a funnel and put it into my
bottle. As soon as it was added, I grabbed a piece of paper and and a
pen.
I wrote down the name of the potion and the date I
made it before gluing the paper to the bottle. Happily, I held the
bottle close to me. I had made my first potion. I knew that I could
store this anywhere in room temperature for the next four years.
Look out you nasty boils... you've met your match.
