Description: Sam finds Y/N lying awake in bed in the early morning, struggling to convince herself to get up. It's happened quite a bit lately, and Sam finds himself getting worried.

"Y/N?" Sam called into the semi-darkness of the person in question's room. They were heading out for a hunt in mere minutes, and he was concerned. Y/N had been acting strange lately. She'd been quieter, quicker to anger than usual, and more often than not she was holed up in her room. 

"Yeah?" A voice responded from the vaguely human shaped lump in Y/N's blankets. 

"Are you feeling alright? We're heading out in ten." 

"I'll be there in a minute, sorry. Must have lost track of time." Sam stayed where he was. "Can you close the door so I can get dressed?" She asked with a faint snippy tone. 

"Sure, once you tell me what's going on with you." When he was answered with silence, he leaned against the doorframe. "C'mon, Y/N, I'm not stupid. I can tell when something's wrong." Sam heard a sigh from the bed, and saw Y/N's shoulders slump.

"I don't know, okay, Sam? I wish to God I knew, but I don't. I just-I wake up and I don't want to get out of bed. I look at what the day has in store, and I don't see why I should be a part of it. I only end up stressed or feeling numb. Sorry that I didn't exactly want to talk about it. I just think that you guys don't need to add worrying about me to your list of responsibilities for the day." The man's face crumpled, the fact that Y/N hadn't felt able to tell him about this hurt almost as much as the very fact that she felt that way to begin with. He sat down on the bed next to her and set a hand gently on her shoulder. 

"Y/N, I am...unbelievably sorry that you feel that way, but you aren't a burden. Dean, Cas, and I, we care about you so much. If you are struggling we want to be there for you. You're always helping us through our problems. It's about time you let us step in and take care of you." Y/N shifted to sit up. She looked over at Sam with tear filled eyes. 

"You really mean it?" Sam nodded, not trusting himself to speak with the tightening of his throat when her voice shook. He opened his arms for a hug and she all but threw herself into the embrace. Her arms wrapped tightly around his middle and she buried her face in his shoulder. Sam put an arm around her shoulders, carding the other hand through her hair and resting his head on top of hers. 

"I love you, Y/N." He said before he could stop to think. 

"I love you too, Sam." She replied without hesitation. Sam wasn't sure how long they stayed that way, but clearly it had been just a bit too long for his brother as the silence was shattered by his harsh voice.

"Sammy, Y/N, I swear if I come up there and find you two making out-!" 

"We're coming, Dean!" Sam and she called out in almost perfect sync. 

"Not nearly fast enough!" He yelled back. They shook their heads in amusement and when Sam looked down at Y/N, she held his gaze. 

"You ready to go now?" He asked her. 

"I mean, I still need to get dressed." She looked down at the oversized Clueless! shirt and flannel pants she wore to sleep in, and the two laughed. 

"I guess I'll leave you to it then." Sam stood and left, closing the door behind him. Y/N smiled slightly. The day still seemed pretty daunting, but at least now she had the certainty that something good would come of it, and that there was at least one person willing to help her through it.
