Lesson Six: Dark Side of the Moonflower Study Guide

Chapter 7

Gloomy Growths

Plants like Devil's Snare, Vampire Vines, & Shadowmoss do not thrive in daylight. If you try to make them bloom during sunlight hours, you will need to first master the Darkening Charm. The charm would need to block one hundred percent of sunlight in order to mimic the night. Unless the plant is magical, the plant will need either moonlight or Luminescent Liquid. When harvesting nocturnal plants, use tinted vials to store them.

Evening Primrose (Cenothera Biennis) & Moonflower (Datura Innoxia)

The Evening Primrose plant grows in either full darkness or full sunlight, which means it is mostly asleep. Its colors come in pink, white, or yellow. Water often for moist soil, but drain the extra water when needed. Its soil must be acidic, between a 5.5 to 7.0 pH balance. Use its flowers to improve liver functions & to lower fertility in potions. Its leaves improves eczema in creams & can be ingested with salads, tea, candies, & gum. The Moonflower plant is a mundane plant. It thrives & dies every moon cycle. Water daily unless the soil is not dry & its soil must be mildly acidic; a pH balance between 6.1 to 6.5. The plant is highly toxic & is used in poisons. Its seeds are very poisonous & its leaves are used as a sedative.

Night-Flowering Catchfly (Silene Noctiflora) & Shadowmoss (Bryophyta Umbranea)

The Night-Flowering Catchfly is an invasive & aggressive plant. The pH balance or watering is not a problem. Its scent attracts moths & are used in perfume potions, insecticides, & herbicides. Its roots, leaves, & stems do not have any use. The Shadowmoss plant is a magical plant & do not grow in sunny areas. If exposed to sun, it will disappear in a puff of smoke. It looks like normal moss except it moves around on the ground like a shadow. Shadowmoss can grow in fine, rocky, smooth, drainage, & no drainage soil. They like a pH balance of 5.0 to 5.5. Shadowmoss is used in potions that hide in sight & in creams & sunscreen. When dried, it is used as a diuretic & both medical & pranking potions.
