Chapter 4
Hermione walked through Hogwarts. It was early in the morning on a Saturday, and she promised Harry and Ron that she'd meet her down by Hogsmeade later. Hermione loved to get away and sit by the lake reading a book, with absolutely no distractions. It had been a week since the entire Three Broomsticks fiasco, and their cover was blown. Of course, Ron doesn't know it was all fake, but Harry does now. Hermione and Draco haven't spoken since. In fact, they haven't even seen each other in class, or in the hallways. Hermione took the long way to the lake. The way you take to be satisfied by the way the sunrise touches your skin. Hermione was eager to start her book. It was brilliant so far, and she couldn't wait to read more. As the lake came into view, Hermione began examining the trees for the perfect shady tree. She sat under one closest to her. She opened her book and began to read, when she heard footsteps behind her. Hermione drew her wand, and put her book down, still sitting. She stood up as she heard more footsteps. She saw a shadow coming closer to her. "Stupefy!" She shouted, knocking Draco Malfoy backward. "Easy, Granger," He said with a grunt. Hermione put her wand away, not helping him up. "Why are you following me?" Hermione asked, watching him stand up. Hermione went back to sit down. Draco came and sat down next to her. "Well," Draco began, but Hermione cut him off. "We're done fake dating. We can go back to hating each other," Hermione retorted. "We don't have to hate each other," Draco said. Hermione snorted. "very funny. Could you imagine if we were actually friends?" Hermione said, thinking he was joking. "You practically hate me," She added. "I don't hate you," Draco said, playing with the grass. "You called me a Mudblood," Hermione said. "I should never have called you that," Draco said. "well, you did," Hermione said. "You punched me," Draco said. "You were hating on Hagrid," Hermione answered right after him. Draco touched his face. "That hurt," He said. "I bet," Hermione said. Hermione punched him on the shoulder. "You don't punch me anymore," Draco said softly. "Should I punch you more often?" Hermione suggested. "I'd perfer it if you didn't," Draco shrugged. "So, how's your little Slytherin gang?" Hermione asked. "Mione, please. I'm not like that," Draco pleaded. "Can't we stop this nonsense rivalry?" Hermione turned so fast, you couldn't tell she turned. "You want to stop fighting Gryffindor? Who are you?" Hermione asked suprised. "Draco Malfoy," said Draco promptly, fixing his tie. "Well, I like the new Draco better," Hermione said, opening a book on her lap. "Does that mean you'll go out with me? For real this time," Draco said with eagerness. "Maybe if you stop trying to make a move," Hermione said, smiling. "Fine," Draco said, standing up in front of her. "If you want to go out with me, I won't make the first move. You will," He said. He tried to end the conversation by turning, but then turned back and faced Hermione. "So how will I know if you make a move?" Draco asked. Hermione stood up and walk towards him till they were face to face. "I think you'll know," She said. Draco leaning his head forward, then Hermione turned away. "but I don't think now was that special time," Hermione said, grabbing her books and heading back up to the castle, leaving Draco thinking. "That was definetly a move... wasn't it?" He told himself. He watched Hermione walk away. He laughed and looked down at the ground, then departed toward the castle, a smile on his face.
