The Interveiw

Chapter 2

Ginny, Ron, Hermione, and Harry went into the kitchen to grab their breakfast. Percy had provided them with bacon, eggs, and toast. Ron was drifting off to sleep. Harry stared at him.

“You should drink  a gallon of Coffee in one shot, Ron,” Harry joked. Ginny’s milk squirted out her nose. Hermione, Ginny, and Harry laughed.

“That was hilarious!” Ginny pointed out. She took a bite of her toast. Harry nodded, elbowing Ron to wake up. Ron’s head bobbed in the air. He noticed his food in front of him, and stuffed his mouth.

“Ron, you ready?” Mrs. Weasley said hurriedly.

“Harry? You?” She added quickly. Harry nodded, setting his toast down. Ron looked confused. “What?” He asked. Harry laughed.

“We are going to the Ministry, Ron!” He clarified.

“Why?” Ron asked.

“We are going to our job interview!” Harry said loudly.

“Passed your muggle driving test, have you?” said Harry. Ron looked Stunned.

“No,” He muttered. Harry grinned.

“Yeah, I didn't think so. It’s alright, me and Hermione have passed ,” He said, throwing a pair of socks on his feet.

“Teddy! Teddy!” Harry called, but no one answered.

“Teddy! Teddy!” Harry called again. Still no answer.

“EDWARD REMUS LUPIN!” He bellowed.

Teddy raced down the stairs out of breath.

“Yeah?” He asked coldly.

“I am going to the Ministry, be good for Ginny and Hermione —,” Harry said. Hermione jumped up from the table.

I’m coming with you!” She said furiously. Harry now looked Stunned.

“What job are you looking for?” He asked suddenly.

“Minister of Magic,” She said proudly. Ron stood up.

“Hermione Jean Granger! You want the worst job in the universe?!” He said. Ron seemed wide awake.

“It isn’t the worst job, Ronald. Don’t exaggerate!” She said sternly. Ron casted a glare.

“Well, it is! Fudge! Don’t you remember Fudge? A Death Eater! Scrimgeour! A Vampire! They’re all horrible!” He said.  Hermione cast him a horrific glare and grabbed her purple handbag.

“I believe I will make a brilliant Minister, and I believe I will earn the job, you?” Hermione added coldly.

“Aurors,” Harry said casually. Hermione nodded sarcastically, then slipped a form into her handbag.

“Let’s go then! Our interviews are at eleven,” Harry shrugged at Ginny.

“Teddy, your priority,” Harry said sternly. Ginny nodded.

“Harry, he will be alright, there are more than ten adults,” Ginny said. Harry laughed.

“Then, I guess I won’t have to worry then?” He asked sarcastically. Ginny laughed, then helped them to the door.

“Good luck,” Ginny added, as Ron, Hermione, and Harry walked out the door. Harry pointed his thumb to her.

“Thanks,” he said, and walked with them.

Hermione ran to the enchanted car, and hopped in.

“Harry, are you driving?” Hermione asked. Harry shook his head.

“Oh no! I bet you have more experience than I do!” he said. Hermione laughed then agreed.

“I had more time to, but I thought you said you passed your test,” Hermione said curiously.

“Oh I did, just Vernon and Petunia never let me drive,” He said. Hermione let out a sigh, then started the car.

“Seat belts on?” She asked Harry and Ron. Ron quickly answered.

“Yes. I think that this is it?” Ron asked, taking a seat belt and holding it.

“Yes, Ron, that is a seat belt.” Harry answered with a laugh.

“What does it — er — do?” Ron asked. Hermione looked back at Ron.

“What does it do?” She repeated. “What does it do?”  Ron looked a little affronted.

“Excuse me, I've just been living with pure-bloods my whole life! You lived with muggles!”

Hermione glared at him.

“Just take your seat belt. Okay, now take it and stick it in that red hole right on the other side of you!......Yes, good job,” Hermione said. Ron was buckled in. Harry and Hermione looked at each other. Then they laughed. Hermione was the first to stop.

“To the Ministry we go!” She said firmly, then stepped on the gas. She drove down the road, and came to a halt in London.

“This is called a stop light,” Hermione explained. “It will turn red, then you stop. Yellow, you slow down. Green, you go!” Hermione finished just as the light turned green. Hermione drove to the Ministry telephone box, and parked on the side of the road. “

Everyone, step into the telephone box!” Hermione said loudly. Harry and Ron went inside the box with Hermione. The telephone box suddenly started speaking.

“Who are you and what is your business?” The voice said. Harry could tell it was female.

“Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger-Weasley, Interviews for Ministry Jobs.” Harry said. The cool female voice answered again. “What jobs?” Harry looked back at Hermione and Ron. Then he turned back to the box.

“Harry Potter, Auror. Ron Weasley, Auror, Hermione Granger-Weasley, Minister for Magic,” The cool female voice rose up again.

“Two Aurors, one Minister?” Harry nodded, though he could tell she couldn’t see him. “

Yes,” He muttered. Suddenly, they felt as though they all  were falling for their lives. They hit the ground hard, and stepped out of the box. They were inside the Ministry. Hermione led them to the Minister for Magic’s office, which was taken by Kingsley Shaklebolt. Kingsley nearly jumped towards their arrival.

“Harry Potter!” He said, joyfully. He stuck out his hand to greet him. Harry quickly took his hand, and shook it rapidly. “Hermione Granger! Ronald Weasley!” he said, letting go of Harry’s hand to shake Hermione and Ron’s.

“Hello Mr. Shacklebolt,” Hermione said respectfully.

“Hello Miss Granger,” He said back with a light smile.

“I’ve recently received a letter a few seconds ago, for information for each of your individual interviews, and what job you would like to be taking.” Kingsley said.

“Ronald and Harry? Aurors, I believe,” Harry and Ron nodded. Kingsley turned to Hermione.

“You would like to be Minister for Magic?” He asked. Hermione felt the need to answer, just it was unknown to her, and to Harry and Ron, how to.

“I — er — yes,” She said reluctantly. Kingsley nodded, still smiling.

“I am afraid, I have been Minister for far too long, since Scrimgeour, and I would proudly like to hand over my position to you Miss Granger,” He said thoughtfully. “No one would be better,” He added. Hermione smiled.

“But don’t you need to check — er — criminal records?” She asked. Kingsley stood up from his chair.

“I had a feeling you would like to attend the Ministry, so I’ve checked years before,” He said calmly. Hermione looked astonished.

“But doesn’t criminal records change,” Hermione’s words were lost by Harry’s.

“Hermione, what he is saying is you don’t have a criminal record. He reckons you are fine if you’ve been fine for the past decade or so,” Kingsley nodded.

“Which means, you can be Minister,” Hermione didn’t believe this.

“I thought,” She said. Her voice went into a whisper.

“I thought that I had to train,” She said. Kingsley smiled.

“You have,” He said simply.

“I — have?” Hermione asked, flabbergasted.

“Why yes! You’ve been running around with Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley for the past ten years, why, of course you’ve prepared!” He said. Hermione stared at him.

“I can have the job?” The childish words fell out like they were tear drops. Fast, but regretful. Kingsley nodded. He turned his head to Harry and Ron.

“As for you, Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley,” He said. He looked back at Hermione.

“You can go explore the Ministry, dear one. Whatever makes you feel more comfortable with the place,” He added. Hermione sat up from the chair, and waved good-bye to Ron and Harry.

“ You’ve got the job,” Kingsley said, sitting down.

“WHAT?!” Yelled Ron.

“Settle dear boy, settle,” He said.

“Mr. Potter, you’ve defeated You-Know-Who—,” Harry interrupted. “What is the trouble in saying Voldemort?” Harry demanded.

“Now he’s gone, what does it matter?” Kingsley stared at him, then answered.

“It doesn’t, just I’d prefer You-Know-Who or He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named,” Kingsley said. Harry nodded furiously.

“As I was saying, Mr. Porter, you’ve defeated You-Know-Who several times, and one of those times is when you were not out of babyhood,” He said. Harry nodded.

“You’ve escaped, which in your first year, Mr. Weasley was with you,” He said. Ron’s face went pink.

“I helped him get through the chess,” He said modestly. Kingsley nodded.

“Congratulations! Harry, I’ve decided to make you Head of the Auror Department,” Ron looked astonished.

“Nice, mate!” He said. He patted Harry on the back.

“I will have to clean up and get a move on then!” Kingsley said. He waved his wand and said “Patet!” And the entire office was cleared out.

“Still got that fake galleon on you, have yeh?” He asked. Harry nodded, taking out his own fake galleon.

“But how did you —,”

“No need to know, Mr. Potter,” He said, holding up a hand to silence Harry.

“I shall want one, to communicate to you in times needed,” he said, handing it back.

“I’ll ask Hermione,” He said, sticking it in his pocket. Kingsley nodded.

“Farwell Harry Potter, and Ronald Weasley!” he said joyfully, taking a suitcase and walking out of the office.

“Let’s find Hermione,” Harry and Ron said immediately after the door clicked shut. Harry jumped up and opened the door.

“Summoning Charm?” Ron asked. Harry laughed.

“I don’t think Hermione wouldn’t be too pleased,” Harry said, roaring with laughter.

Accio Hermione Granger-Weasley!” Ron said, pointing his wand to the ground. A white light came from the end of his wand. Hermione appeared, laying on the ground.

 “Ouch!” She exclaimed, sitting up.

“Ron! Did you use a Summoning Charm on me?” She said immediately. Ron nodded, helping her up.

 “Could’ve gotten splinched,” She muttered.

“Oh!” She said excitedly, pulling Harry and Ron into her new office.

“The car, well, Ron, your dad came and picked it up,” She said.

“He said we can Apparate into the sitting room,” Hermione said, taking her beaded bag and taking out her wand.

“He also said that they blocked off the room so we could do it safely,” Hermione finished.

“Brilliant,” Harry said. Hermione let out a giggle.

“Do we want to Apparate separately or side-along?” Hermione asked Harry and Ron.

“Side-along is alright,” Muttered Ron, taking Hermione’s hand.

“Alright,” She said, seizing Harry’s hand.

“The burrow,” She mumbled. The air seemed foggy, Harry could hardly breath. Then he heard it again. The screaming. Then he heard Delphini.

“I’ve got my first one! Say good-bye to your precious Ginny Weasley!” Harry started panicking. He opened his eyes to find himself on the couch, with everyone surrounding him. Everyone except Ginny.

“Zat ‘ill be zenough, Torie,” Fleur said. Bill looked toward Victorie, who was sitting on the stair banister.

“Hermione! Ron!” Harry said once he saw them. Hermione smiled. Her smile slowly disappeared from her face.

“Delphini took Ginny,” Ron said at once.

“I know!” Harry said furiously.

“How?” Mr. Weasley said.

“I saw it,” Harry said.

“WHAT!?” Hermione yelled. She quickly ran into the kitchen, then ran back into the sitting room.

“Drink,” She demanded.

“Harry, drink up!” Harry shook his head.

“I need to get Ginny back! I can’t drink whatever that is —,” Hermione cut in.

“It’s Marcais Mais! How to bewitch the mind! Drink!” She added. Harry shook his head.

“If I can see true things, I can get her back!” Hermione disgarded this.

“Drink this Marcais Mais and you won’t see her anymore!” Hermione demanded.

“Harry James Potter! If you don’t drink this I’ll put a Full-Body-Bind curse on you!” Harry rapidly shook his head. Hermione raised her wand.

Petrificus Totalus!” Harry’s body went numb. He couldn’t move at all.

Silencio!” She said Harry could no longer talk. Hermione shoved the Marcais Mais up his throat. Harry felt bad.

Finite Incantatem!” Hermione said, and both the curses had disappeared. Harry gasped for breath.

“Harry!” Hermione cried, and raced to hug him.

“We saw Delphini! She said she's Delphi! Or goes by it! We saw her take Ginny!” Harry stood up.

“I need to find her,” he said bravely. Ron walked over to Harry.

“I’ll go, she’s my sister,” He said. Harry shook his head.

“I saved her once and I can save her again,” He said.

Hermione looked at them. She knew what Harry was going to do. Hermione’s eyes filled with tears.

“Malfoy Manor,” She said, giving Harry a note. Harry stuffed the note in his pocket. Everyone else knew. He was going alone. He wrapped his arms around Hermione.

“It’s okay,” He told her in a whisper.

“I’ll be fine,”

Hermione cried even more.

“I know you will be,” She said, then forced some tears off her face.

Harry let go of Hermione, then grabbed Floo Powder.

“Malfoy Manor,” he said, throwing it onto the ground of the fireplace. Green flames rose.
