The Lonely Star Without A Name
Chapter 3
" Once upon a time, there was a lonely star. He had no name and no family. People just called him Star 1,000,000,381, as they did for the rest, only with a different number. He ventured to a far off Galaxy called the Milky Way. There was a planet called Earth there." "Mommy, that's where we live!" "Yes, Elyse dear. Anyways, on Earth, everyone had names. Names like Jack and Jill and Phil. The lonely star wanted a name too! He gave himself the name Spark. One day, he wanted to meet a human. So he fell to Earth one night to find himself in the yard of a young girl, just about 8 years old. The girl was named Elyse. She went out with her mommy to catch fireflies and eat Popsicles, because it was summertime. The girl happened to find Spark on the ground. She called out, "Mommy, look, a star! Can I keep it?" Her mommy said yes. Elyse kept the star as her soft toy, since that's what stars look like on Earth. All the stars knew about this, and they named a star holiday after Spark. It was called Spark of Star Names Day. Ever since, Spark had a friend. Every night though, Spark missed the sky more and more. Soon, Spark discovered he would fizzle out if he stayed on Earth any longer. Spark wanted to stay with Elyse, who was magic. Spark never went home. So, as a tribute to him, now, every star has a special name, and the most special stars are named Spark. The end." "Mommy, is that story about Spark, who I lost today? Was he a real star mommy?" "Yes Elyse. He was."
