Chapter 2
I sat by
Xenophilius, Frank, and Lily. I shoved food down my throat trying to get as
much of the brilliant food as possible. Lily was busy talking about the summer
when I went to her house. I have no family so I live in the Leaky Cauldron.
Like I have been for the last six years. The woman that owns the Leaky Cauldron
is the closet I have to a mother. Her name is Susan. I work at the Leaky
Cauldron and I quite like it. Sirius had to stay there this summer too because
he ran away from home. Again. Have way through the summer the Potters came back
from Ireland from visiting family and Sirius went and stayed with them. “Don’t
tell James I went to your house. Then he’ll either yell at me for it or talk to
me till I give him details,” I tell Xenophilius, Frank, and Lily, who was
nodding violently. “Tell me what?” I turn to see James. What my luck? “Nothing,” Lily and I say together. Xenophilius
stayed quite but he probably is off in his own little world. “Reese went to
Lily’s house,” Frank blurted out, making a very angry Lilly and I turn to him.
“Was I not supposed to tell them?” Frank asks innocent. I was rubbing off on him too much. I shot glares at them before
turning to James who had his thinking face on. “You’re tell me later,” He said
before walking away with the rest of the Marauders. I throw my hands up in
defeat.
Meanwhile . .
.
“Don’t you think you should have
asked?” Remus asks James as they make their way towards Griffindor Tower. “Ask
what?” James asked.
“About
Reese,” Remus pushed and when he sees James look of confusion and a question on
his lips Remus just says, “About telling you about Lily.” He says it slowly so
it could get through James thick skull. “Of course not! She would have done it
anyway,” James says like Remus was stupid. Remus shakes his head. He heard
Reese tell Lily not to tell. James got it wrong.
---------Reese’s
Point of View
James was
interrogating me for answers. He made me drink a truth potion but the one thing
wrong with it was it couldn’t make me talk. I couldn’t lie, but it doesn’t mean
I couldn’t stay silent. Once he let me go I was free to go with Remus on our
Prefect duties. We walked around our section of the school making small talk. “Don’t
you think anyone out will hear us talking and just hide?” It was my first year being
Prefect and it was Remus’s second so I went to him with loads of questions.
“They giggle too much thinking they pulled a fast one. It’s kind of boring here
at night. I sometimes catch people snogging in closets. Most of the time
Sirius,” Remus tells me. “Unless there listening to this conversation right
now,” I say crouching a little and do a spin like a spy would making Remus
laugh. We hear something in a closet and we both look at each other knowing who
it was. We opened the closet to see Sirius and some girl with Ravenclaw robes.
“On the second day Black?” I ask with an amused expression leaning against the
door frame. Remus was trying not to laugh. “Sorry Jessica. I have been caught
again!” He held out the “again” making me snort. “It’s our job,” Remus and I
say in unison. “It’s Kelly,” The Ravenclaw girl said and I heard Sirius say,
“You think I care?” They walked out and a flustered looking Kelly walked
towards Ravenclaw as Remus, Sirius, and I made our way to Griffindor Tower. “If
this is going to happen every night I think it’s going to get boring,” I
whisper to Remus to grins at me. “Pretty much.”
“I can hear
you guys back there!” Sirius called behind to us, still walking with his weird
swagger.
“Hey watch
it! I can arrest you!” Remus laughed at my Muggle term as Sirius just looked
confused. When we finally got back I drifted into a dream right when my head
the pillow.
I was in the
dungeons. There was a tall, tanned skinned boy with groomed black hair that I
have only seen in pictures. He was in the bathrooms but I couldn’t remember if
it was boys our girls. He said a single word that to everyone else would sound
like mindless hissing. “Open.” It opened and he stepped into it. He seemed to
start right at me before I woke up.
I woke up
with Lily shaking me yelling, “The Common Rooms on fire!” I literally flip out
of bed before she says, “Kidding! Time for classes!” I growl at her before
getting ready and heading to the Great Hall for breakfast. I sit by the
Marauders, sitting far away from Peter as possible. Once over I head to
Potions. I sit next to Lily and we talk before Professor Slughorn comes in.
Griffindor had this class with Slytherin. Griffindor took the right side of the
room as Slytherin took the left. I am surprised that no one tried to kill each
other yet! James *cough* Sirius *cough* Today class we are going to be making
the Draught of the Living Death potion today. But first we much assign partners.
I crossed my figure saying in my head, Lily
please, Lily please, Lily please! “Lily Evans and James Potter!” Slughorn
said looking over his list. James looks like he just won the lottery and Lily
looked horrified and couldn’t even speak. I let out a small giggle of the
laughter I was trying to hold in making her put her head on the desk and say,
“Shut up.” My smile faded as I found out who I was with.
“Reese King
and Sirius Black!”
I turn to see
a smirking Sirius and I start banging my head on the desk. Lily went to sit
next to James while I was still repeatedly banging my head on the table. Girls
looked at me jealous. “Take him!” I yell at them and they cheer. “No changing
partners!” Slughorn called. I started to bang my head on the desk more. “Oi
woman! How am are you supposed to do all the work when you’re in the Hospital
Wing!” Sirius said sitting down next to me, putting his hand under my hand to
stop me from banging it again. It really was starting to hurt. “Nice to see you
care,” I mutter.
“Nice to see
you want me as a partner.” I start laughing like it was the funniest thing in
the world getting a few weird glances as I did so. Once I stopped laughing and
I wiped an invisible tear from my eye I said, “That’s the funniest thing you
have ever said.” He scowls at me as I start getting out the thing we need. I
was reading over the instructions and a little noise came out of the pot and a
little thing of smoke come out. “What did you do?” I groaned it. I put
somethings in that put it back to normal then glared at Sirius. Soon potions
were done and I went to Divination.
I was sitting
in Divination next to Xenophilius. Griffindor had this class with the
Ravenclaws and it wasn’t as tense with them as it was with Slytherin. About
half way through the class when we were talking about Crystal balls we were
rudely interrupted by the Muggle Studies Professor explain that there was a
little explosion and that Dumbledore said they could join this class till they
could fix up the mess. I shook my head seeing James and Sirius. Makes much more
sense. “Well sit down children! We will be talking about Crystal Balls!” Xenophilius
and I were joined by Sirius and James. They passed out crystal balls. James and
Sirius kept on trying to tell us what happened in Muggle Studies but I ignored
him as I caught glimpses in the crystal ball. Xenophilius looked just as
intrigued as me in the crystal ball. “I don’t see anything!” Sirius was saying
and James says the same. The Professor came around with her yellow weaved hair
and big glasses saying, “You have to have the gift, you two do not.” She
pointed to me and Xenophilius that I only saw in the corner of my eye because I
was still starting intensely at the crystal ball. “These two have the gift of
sight. What do you see?”
“Nargles,”
Xenophilius said without hesitation.
“You?” She
turned her figure on me and I felt the eyes of everyone in the class on my and
I stare more intensely at the crystal ball. I shrug and say, “Glimpses.”
She smiles at me and it looked like a smile that said I am sorry for you.
