I've been an outcast my whole life. Maybe it's because I am absolutely not afraid to voice my opinion, or maybe it's because I don't have great people skills. It could be either one. Finding out that I have magic was the best news I've ever had. It means that there might be a reason that people have tended to hate me my whole life. Even my dad hated me. He left as soon as he found out I was being born.

I'm glad I don't know him. Some people just aren't worth knowing, and he is definitely not worth my time. 

As a thirteen year-old girl, you would think social status would matter to me. Not really. Books are way better, and especially now that what I'm learning is cool, working hard in school is more important than looks to me.
