The Knocking
Chapter 2
Click! I turned off the lamp beside me and tucked in my sheets. I let my body relax and I sighed - it had been a long day at work and I was ready to sleep. My mind began to drift off and I let sleep take me on a long, drifty ride.
Knock! Knock! I opened my eyes. Who would be out knocking my door at this hour? My body slipped out of the covers and I crept downstairs. Knock! Knock! The person at the door was certainly impatient and kept knocking! I opened the door to the outside yet nobody was there and I could still hear the knocking.
I shut the door and thought it must be a prank. So I went back to bed and settled under my covers. I could still hear the knocking again but it sounded different; it sounded like it was coming closer and closer until I heard it coming down the hall towards my room.
"Who is there?" I shouted while trying to act brave. But inside, I was scared and I could feel it all the way in my stomach. Knock! Knock! Now the sound was right next to me.
In front of me I saw a bloody face that was floating with no body. It was deformed, had sharp teeth, and translucent. Then I heard a scream and realized it was coming from me. Somehow I felt something around my neck getting tighter and tighter. Knock! Knock! Could I survive?
