Any account of a Bandersnatch sighting occurs within a forest, often dense and overgrown. It is believed that the creature is rather shy and this supports the fact that this beast has been sighted by very few witches and wizards to this day.

Indeed this choice of environment acts as a natural cover for the creature and allows it to remain concealed from the rest of the world. It is also a perilous place to be tracking such a creature as the Bandersnatch, especially with what we already know about it's teeth.
