Professor Everard is a former headmaster at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and is one of the most celebrated headmasters along with Dilys Derwent and Albus Dumbledore. Known for his bravery, Everard worked with the British Ministry of Magic before becoming headmaster. He was helpful and very popular with both students and faculty. Though he was a man who expected the students to follow the rules and exemplify good behavior, he was very fair whenever a student was sent to his office. Even in death, his portrait finds good behavior quite important, and prefers to be addressed with his proper title out of respect. Even the other portraits of headmasters have never been reported to ever address him by his first name.

There are two portraits of Everard. The first one is in the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts Castle. The other one is located in the British Ministry of Magic Headquarters. Everard is very helpful in keeping the current headmaster informed about happenings at the Ministry as he travels to and from both portraits frequently. This communication link proved to be very handy during the Second Wizarding War.
