Edward Rabnott

Chapter 21

Edward Rabnott was a wizard who lived in England during the fourteenth century. He is the grandson of Modesty Rabnott, who kidnapped the Golden Snidget during a game of Cuaditch (Quidditch) in 1269. Her protests caused the ban of the bird’s use in the following century and beyond. Later, Edward Rabnott helped Chieftainess Elfrida Clagg of the Wizard’s Council establish the first Snidget sanctuary and named it after his grandmother, the Modesty Rabnott Snidget Reservation.

During his lifetime, Rabnott was considered to be insane by his peers, though today he would clearly be diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder. He had at least three different distinct personalities that would talk and bicker amongst themselves. His “normal” self, or prominent personality, was referred to by his real name, Edward, and seemed to be indifferent when it came to decisions. He gave the other two personalities the names Concord and Fortitude. Concord was known to be extremely dramatic and emotional while Fortitude had a short temper and was callous. Due to the opposing personalities, Rabnott had a difficult time making any sort of decision. In fact, Rabnott almost made his portrait artist walk out in anger during a sitting because Concord and Fortitude would not stop arguing over which pose should be in the portrait. When interacting with his portrait, all three personalities are clearly apparent as Rabnott struggles to give a clear answer to a question without Concord or Fortitude needing to interject.
