The History Of Gryffindor

Chapter 2

I would first like to note that a lot of the research that was  put into this book was made using others. However, the book I used for Gryffindor just vanished. I do not know who practiced spells on my much needed material, but he/she is in trouble when I find out. Therefore, most of "History of Gryffindor", or a small guide to it here, was done by me.

Gryffindor was founded by Godric Gryffindor. Just like him, all students in Gryffindor are brave, determined and honorable. The house ghost is, as we all know, Nearly Headless Nick.

Many things are to be said about how they feel about other houses, but that, just like with all other houses, will be left for a different chapter.

Now the description of the Common Room is a bit of a long one. I won't bother describing it, instead, I will show you the description I have found. I have never had access to it, so I really can't do it myself.

"The Gryffindor Common Room is located in one of the castle's towers (Gryffindor Tower), the entrance to which is located on the seventh floor and is guarded by an oil painting of the Fat Lady, who is garbed in a pink silk dress. She permits entry only after being given the correct (regularly changing) password. Behind her painting is a large common room, with a fireplace, and two staircases leading up to the girls' and boys' dormitories.

There is a spell on the girls' staircase that prevents boys from using it, however there is no such enchantment on the staircase to the boys' dormitory, allowing girls to use it whenever they wish, due to the founders' belief that girls were more trustworthy. The common room is very comfortable, and members of the Gryffindor house meet there for study groups, celebrations, or relaxation. The walls are lined with portraits, each one depicting a previous or current Head of Gryffindor."

That would be all of the non-research parts for Gryffindor. It's reputation and feelings of others about it will be left for a different chapter.
