The Royal Summons

Chapter 3

“Amy!,” I yell, and run over to her body. She is breathing heavily, and tears are running down her face. The man disappears,

“I love you, Gem, and Mom and Dad, and Kari. I’ll miss you. Take my cloak,” she breaths and rolls over for the last time.

“Amy!,” I sob. King Aaron stands up.

“Everyone, go home. Kari, it’s time,” King Aaron booms, and I am very puzzled. What would the king want with my big sis, Kari? No offence, but she is usually quiet and majestic. I look around for my parents, but I can’t see their faces anywhere. The town square is now deserted, and the cloudy, glum sky remains. I look up and see the king and queen standing over me with tears streaming down their faces, with their hands on Kari’s shoulder, who has her face hidden in her hands. I look closer at the king and queen, and I realize that they are my parents.

“Mom, Dad? What is going on? Who was that man? You’re king and queen of Believer’s Echo? I need answers,” I rush out, and Mom and Dad look down at me.

“Come home and I’ll explain everything,” Mom says, taking her tiara off. Kari looks down at me clutching Amy’s body, and her hair starts to come down in strands. I pick Amy’s body up, and start home, my family following me.

I burst out the minute we get through the door,” GIVE ME THOSE ANSWERS!”

“We’re sorry we never told you we were king and queen and that you are a princess. We didn’t tell you because of that man who killed your twin. About 13 years ago, that man had been king of Believer’s Echo, and terrible things happened. His named Tidalstorm, and he is one of the most powerful men to live. He can control the weather, and his special item is a sword. He was then defeated by us, and we banished him to a stormy ocean grove called Dagrofano. He obviously used his slaves to help him out of the storm. He has followers who help him and get rewarded highly, ” Mom says, ripping her hair out of it’s fancy do,” and he vowed to get revenge. The instant he gains enough power, he is going to kill your father and I. We are currently more powerful than him, and he thinks we live in the castle.”

“We are going incognito, and will be giving the throne to Kari. She is the most powerful person ever to live, and she has all the powers. She has a few special items that she keeps locked away. As for Amy’s cloak, you will now have her power, too,” Dad says.

“Okay, let's talk about my responsibilities” Kari says, and I walk upstairs to collect my thoughts with Amy’s cloak. I’m in shock. My sister, dead. I stare in my bedroom mirror as I walk into the room I used to share with Amy.

“I’ll miss you. All the good times we’ve had,” I say to my reflection.

“Me, too,” my reflection says, and her eyes flash from green to blue.

“Amethyst? Wait, what is going on? How are you in my mirror?,” I stutter, and Amy smiles as she looks at me.

“We’ve got a special connection now. Because I gave you my special item, I can warn you in times of great danger, and I can help you manage your new power. The link is even stronger because we’re sisters and super strong because we’re twins,” Amy explains, and my jaw drops.

“How often will you appear?,” I ask.

“I appear to warn you, and I also appear when you say ‘Me times two, let me see you’. I can now see the future, and will be able to warn you. You must tell no one of this. I must go now. Bye, Gemini. I love you.”

“WAIT!,” I yell, but she has already gone. My reflection’s eyes go back to green. I sit on my bed, and suddenly Kari comes in.

“The coordination will happen tomorrow. We’re going to tell the people that it’s okay to come out, and make that announcement. We also need to get dresses,” Kari says, twirling her her hair. She does that when she’s nervous.

“When will people know I’m a princess?,” I ask.

“When you are ready.”

“When will I be ready?”

“Oh, Gemini! We’ll just know,” Kari snaps, and I shut up. Kari leaves, and I walk over to stroke my phoenix, Lament.

I say to Lament,” Today’s been a lot more trouble than it’s worth.” I grasp the cloak tightly, and fasten it on myself.
