Lexia
A princess finds out that she has magical abilities, something very illegal in her kingdom, and is forced to run away and find a way to survive in the woods. Maybe even find a way to rewrite this injustice. This is the first story I've posted anywhere so please bare with me. Constructive criticism is highly appreciated, just remember to be nice with it. There are some themes of anti-womanness I do not support this in any way, but I also acknowledge the time period in which I set this book. SCRAPPED

The revelation
Chapter 2
"Sorcery," my father breathed. He then directed his attention to the guards surrounding the room. "Find this witch and kill them! Show them what happens when you cross King Belinor."
I sat there, shocked. That was me, I thought, for who else would have dared perform magic anywhere near the king or his knights. At least, on purpose.
The dining hall had erupted into chaos as the knights ran about trying to find the witch as my father had commanded them.
"Come on," I heard a familiar voice in my ear. "You must be going Princess Adelaide. We can't have you getting caught in this scuffle."
I wanted to stay, I wanted to watch my father's world crumble as he had just made mine. Emmatha was right, nonetheless, so I let her lead me back to my rooms.
"Do you think they'll get caught?" I ask, sitting at the window, hoping to see a part of the carnage ensuing below. The carnage I'm pretty sure I caused.
"The witch?" Emmatha questioned, only continuing after a nod of my head. "It's doubtful. Nobody would dare do anything like that without knowing that they would escape unscathed."
I gave a thoughtful nod, not wanting to give her any reason to be suspicious of me. "What am I supposed to do for the rest of the day?"
"The only thing on your schedule for today was the Melee due to the uncertainty of how long it would last. I could arrange tea with Lady Meganna if you wish. She's been trying to meet with you for a few days now."
"No thank you. I'd much rather be alone if that's alright."
"Of course m'lady," Emmatha said with a bow. "You really should meet with Lady Meganna soon. She may start to think you're ignoring her."
"I'll do it tomorrow," I compromise. This would give me time to figure out what happened…. Hopefully.
"Of course my lady. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"What would you do if I told you that I thought that I performed the magic?" I blurt out. She was my best friend, I couldn't keep it from her.
A small smile overtook her face for reasons I couldn't comprehend. "If it truly was you, you must learn to control this power."
"How am I supposed to do that? Magic is illegal here."
"Simple," Emmatha said over her shoulder as she made her way to the door. "My coven will teach you."
