Rowena Ravenclaw was born before 976 in Scotland around the 10th century & died around the 11th century by a broken heart. While alive, she dreamt of a worty hog that lead her to a cliff by a lake, hence the name “Hogwarts” & the castle was built on the cliff by the Black Lake. She also created the design & floor plan of Hogwarts. She had a diadem that had an increased power of wisdom, which her daughter, Helena, stole in order to seek revenge on her mother. When structuring Hogwarts, Rowena thought of her house crest to be of an eagle, indicating intelligence as the show front of all traits & colors that bleed blue & bronze. The gemstone that is associated with Ravenclaw are sapphires & the air element accompanies the house.

Rowena believed that Muggle-borns should attend Hogwarts, as most of her students were of Muggle-born descent. Her best friend was Helga Hufflepuff & had a daughter named Helena. The Ravenclaw Common Room is located on the west side tower & used riddles instead of passwords. The ghost that is connected to the Ravenclaw house is The Grey Lady; Helena. Helena became The Grey Lady because the Bloody Baron killed her. Some famous Ravenclaws include Luna Lovegood, Gilderoy Lockhart, Garrick Ollivander, Sybil Trelawney, Filius Flitwick.
