Godric Gryffindor was born before 976, in the town of Godric's Hollow in England & died around the 11th century. While alive, he fought against Muggle discrimination & used his power for good instead of malicious intent. He decided to wield a sword to fight against Muggles who wronged him to even the odds in place of using magic. It is said that the Sword of Gryffindor will show itself to any brave Gryffindor when in need of it. When structuring Hogwarts, Godric thought of his house crest to be of a lion, indicating bravery as the show front of all traits & colors that bleed red & gold. The gemstone that is associated with Gryffindor are rubies, & the fire element accompanies the house.
“Be good of courage”
Godric believed that anyone born with magic, including Muggle-borns, should attend Hogwarts, as a lot of Muggle-born students were housed in Gryffindor. His best friend was Salazar Slytherin, until an argument broke out between them, causing them to go separate ways. The Gryffindor Common Room is located on the 7th floor of the east wing & is usually guarded by the portrait of The Fat Lady. The ghost that is connected to the Gryffindor house is Nearly Headless Nick & he loves to aid Gryffindors in finding their way throughout the castle. Some famous Gryffindors include Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter, Minerva McGonagall, Ronald Weasley, & Hermione Granger.
