Tryouts
Chapter 1
I don't really know what I expected the Gryffindor quidditch team to look like. Well... okay, I did expect it to be similar to Gryffindor's team when Harry played. You know, a great Seeker, amazing Keeper and astounding Beaters and Chasers. Sadly, when I looked out onto the quidditch pitch where tryouts were being held there was no way in heck we were going to be that good or anywhere near that good.
To say there were only two players who knew what they were doing was no dramatization. The two players, Ari McGuentie a sixth year and Danny Reeves a fith year, could play really well but a Beater and a Chaser cannot hold up an entire team.
At tryouts, there were probably twenty or so people not including the team captain. Ari who is team captain this year called out "Okay everyone welcome to quidditch tryouts, we are looking for a Keeper, Beater, Seeker and two Chasers for this year. Danny is already on the team as a Beater but will be trying out with all of you. Everyone good? Alright let's start."
We all flew around the quidditch pitch waiting for Ari to call out whether to speed up or slow down, she had already sent three kids off the pitch who could barely fly. As we flew around the quidditch pitch I saw a girl sitting in the bleachers, her gaze seemed to follow someone around the pitch. I quickly realized who it was, Twyla, my best friend and accomplice when taking food from the kitchens. I was really happy Twyla was there, she never really had an interest in quidditch or any sport for that matter. I was busy waving to Twyla when I realized we had switched directions, whoops...

After practicing doging and turning we were split into groups, those trying out for Beater, like myself went to one section of the pitch. Danny led us through drill after drill, there were definetly some good Beaters here and there was only one spot. I was pretty confident that I wasn't gonna make the team at all. We worked without bludgers for most of the tryout but thirty minutes before it ended we were allowed to bring out the bludgers. "Your task is to hit the bludger that is attacking you into the target farther down the field." Danny said, pointing to eight larde red and white targets. "You may start" he called, releasing the bludgers. Immediatly the bludgers started attacking us, I swung at a bludger and it bounced away missing the target by a couple feet. I tried again, this time hitting the bludger right into the center of the target. "Good job Morgan, Audrella nice hit!" Danny exclaimed smiling at me.
We put the bludgers away and all listened to Ari, "The list will be posted in the Gryffindor common room tomorrow morning, Good luck to everyone." I went into the locker room to change, when I came back out Twyla was standing at the entrance." Great job Aud." she said beaming. "Thanks... I messed up on the doging part of the tryout." I replied sounding defeated. "Well you tried out for Beater they hit the bludgers not doge them." She said trying to cheer me up. We strolled across the grass towards the castle. I veered off toward the left heading to the broom closet, first years aren't allowed their own brooms so I had to borrow a Cleansweep Seven.
"Audrella, I didn't see any of your brothers there for tryouts, they all played last year. What happened?" Twyla asked, curious. "Oh... Ethan wants to focus on his NEWT's, mom and dad are really pressuring him to do well especially because he setting an 'example' for the rest of us. Azziz and Mage weren't interested this year and Leo almost failed last year so our head of house told him he couldn't try out." I answered. "That sucks. they are really good at quidditch." said Twyla. "Yeah but they aren't playing this year, I guess we will just have to work with the players we have." I said unhappy with the turnout at the tryout.

Late that night I was talking to Sadie Lestrange, yes, Bellatrix and Rodolphus's grandaughter. She tried out for Seeker. She isn't awful at quidditch but this is the first year she tried out for the team. She is a sixth year Gryffindor. Her grandparents aren't too happy with her being in Gryffindor, Bellatrix especially. We talked about who we thought made the team since we both were too nervous to sleep, finally I told her that if we made the team Ari said we might have practice tomorrow so we should get some rest.
"I don't think I made the team, I played a bit of quidditch when i was younger but I haven't played on a team ever." She said playing woth the small fringe on the common room arm chairs. "Well we will see in the morning Sadie. Good night." I said as I headed upstairs toward my dorm. "Night, Audrella." She answered.
