The History of Hogwarts

Hogwarts was founded in the 990s in Scotland & both male & female within the ages of eleven & eighteen attended. Hogwarts didn't have a headmaster at the time, but instead had the Four Founders. In 1319, Ephraim Calder was the first headmaster. The school motto is Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus. It translates to Never Tickle a Sleeping Dragon. At first, Hogwarts was a mansion which was charmed to grow among how many students were attending. Rowena designed the stairs to move about so room renovations were easier to adapt to.

Godric Gryffindor & Salazar Slytherin

Godric was the most powerful duellist. He was friends with Salazar Slytherin until a disagreement was made about which blood statuses should have a chance to go to Hogwarts, such as Muggle-borns. Godric's own hat was magically enchanted to sort students into houses. Godric gave the hat just, fearless, brave, & fair traits. His crest is of a lion. Salazar branched out existing fields of magic. He was a Parselmouth, a talented Legilimens, & a good dueller. Most know him for his opinions on blood purity. He disagreed with the other founders about letting Muggle-borns into Hogwarts because he believed they would betray the magical code of keeping magic a secret. This disagreement split the founders. He ensured his legacy to live on by creating the chamber of secrets & a basilisk within it. Salazar gave the hate determination, skill, ambition, cunning, & rule-breaker traits. His crest is of a snake.

Helga Hufflepuff & Rowena Ravenclaw

Helga is from Wales & was the oldest of eleven siblings. During the process of recruiting students, she would venture to the countryside & reassure parents how safe their children would be at Hogwarts. She is also known for many food charms she created. Helga gave the hate hard-working, loyal, & caring traits. Her crest is of a badger. Rowena was skilled in magical architecture & enchanted Hogwarts within its layout. Ravenclaw was her husband's surname, Jares & he is also Hufflepuff's cousin, but died. Rowena had a daughter named Helena, but she got neglected & ran away with her mother's diadem of wisdom as revenge. Rowena's collection of books is the Hogwarts Library. Rowena gave the hat wisdom & knowledge. Her crest is of an eagle.

Fun Facts
⊱ Hogwarts is Unplottable & the spell is much the same as Muggle-Repelling Charms. The charms cast upon the land conceals the Black Lake, the castle, & the Quidditch pitch.
⊱ Salazar saw an argument between a girl & some older boys. He asked some serpents nearby to scare the boys off, ultimately scaring the girl as well.
⊱ Salazar wanted moving paintings scattered throughout the staircases, though many theorize that he wanted to use the paintings to spy on his fellow founders.
⊱ Technology is prohibited because of how unpredictable magic can be around it.
