Lesson Three: British Wizarding Villages Part 1 Study Guide
Chapter 4
Wizarding Villages & Hogsmeade
Many magical families live within the Muggle cities or also prefer to live with acres of land between another. In wizarding villages, the vast majority are wizards. Wizarding villages must have at least thirty-five percent of the population who are considered magical. Hogsmeade is the only village that is an all-magical community. This village is northwest of Hogwarts & looks like it was built in the medieval times. It was established between 1010 to 1030 by Hengist of Woodcroft. Hengist escaped the witch hunters in Northumberland, Scotland. Since 1500 C.E., third years & up can visit this village. During the Battle of Hogwarts in 1997 to 1998, The Hog's Head Inn housed those who were fighting & had a secret passage to the Room of Requirement.
Godric's Hollow & Mould-on-the-Wold
Godric's Hollow is located in the west of England & some Muggles do live here. Other famous wizards such as the Dumbledores, Bathilda Bagshot, Bowman Wright, the Potters, & the Peverells also lived here. Some wizarding monuments are kept hidden from the Muggles, such as the Godric Gryffindor statute & the Potter house shell. Mould-on-the-Wold is less popular & is in Southwest England. This village is purely a magical population & there is quite a bunch of distance between neighbours. Many who like working on magical inventions, potions, & magical experiments like living in villages like this. Other famous wizards such as the Fergus family, the Dumbledores, & the Serapis also lived here. It was founded in the 1700s & was once theorized that the Dumbledore family was the key to the founding.
