European Quidditch Cup (Belgium vs Austria)

Chapter 7

The skies were ablaze with exhilaration as Quidditch fans from across the globe converged in Brussels, Belgium to witness an intense showdown between two formidable contenders – Belgium and Austria. The much-anticipated international Quidditch match lived up to its hype, showcasing impressive skills and unwavering determination from both sides.


The Belgian team consists of keeper Thomas Peeters, seeker Nicolas Janssens, beaters Laura Maes and Maxime Jacobs, and chasers Marie Mertens, Sarah Willems and Emma Claes.


The Austrian team consists of keeper Mia Gruber, seeker Maximilian Huber, beaters Emilia Bauer and Felix Wagner, and chasers Anna Müller, Paul Pichler and Jakob Steiner.


The roaring crowd filled the stands, adorned in their respective team colors, as the players took to the field for the electrifying contest. Belgium, known for their agility and precision, faced off against Austria, a team renowned for their strategic prowess and impeccable teamwork.


From the first whistle, the match was a thrilling display of athleticism, aerial acrobatics, and spellbinding maneuvers. Spectators gasped in amazement as the Chasers from Belgium swiftly passed the Quaffle, maneuvering through Austria's defensive line with astonishing speed. The Austrian Beaters, however, proved to be a formidable force, deflecting Bludgers with accuracy to keep their Seeker in the game.


Huber showed exceptional skill, darting through the air in pursuit of the elusive Golden Snitch. Belgium, not to be outdone, displayed their resilience as Peeters guarded the goalposts with unwavering determination, thwarting multiple attempts by Austria's Chasers to score.


As the match progressed, tensions rose both on and off the field. The audience erupted in cheers whenever Belgium or Austria scored, creating an atmosphere of excitement and national pride. Flags waved high as supporters chanted in unison, encouraging their teams to go for the ultimate glory.


With the scoreboard seesawing back and forth, the stakes were higher than ever. Huber, displaying a masterful display of aerial skill, finally spotted the Golden Snitch amid the chaotic flurry of Quidditch action. Janssens, realizing the urgency, engaged in a high-speed pursuit, vying for the Snitch that could seal victory for their team.


The tension reached its peak as the Seekers engaged in a breathtaking aerial chase, each maneuvering with finesse to outwit the other. In a nail-biting climax, Huber made a daring lunge and secured the Golden Snitch, clinching the victory for their team.


The final score displayed the hard-fought battle: Austria emerged triumphant with a score of 220, while Belgium showcased their sportsmanship and skill with 210.


Post-match, both teams exchanged handshakes and congratulations, exemplifying the true spirit of sportsmanship that Quidditch promotes. The fans, though disappointed in their team's defeat, shared the euphoria of witnessing an extraordinary display of athletic prowess.
