Wizarding Careers

By Keas Hellenes

Most of the roles in the Ministry of Magic are really hard to be appointed and require hard work, time and dedication. But don't lose your hope so quickly, if you believe it you can achieve it. Here are some popular jobs that may attract your interest.

Federal Identity Commission

Their job is keeping records of other employees. It may sound boring but whenever a new employee starts a job they will come to you and ask 'Who were working in this position before ?'. Of course you will know who, for how long, what happened to them and what projects they were working on.

You are also responsible for bringing the records to the court. If any wizard acts a crime your records will be used during judgement stage or any time needed during investigation.

Suggested Lessons: Charms, History of Magic, Magical Law

Federal Wand Permit Officer

Their job is issuing the permit and keeping the record of every wand that belongs to a witch or wizard by using The Wand Registration Numbers. You are also responsible to identify a wand if it's found in a crime scene or lost and who is the owner of it. You will keep the records in the Central Wand Archive where not everyone has access.

Suggested Lessons: Charms, Ancient Runes, History of Magic

Advice: This role requires you to know everything about wands so we suggest you to be a wand maker assistant for a while before applying for the role.

Obliviator

Their job is to keep muggles and wizards' memories under control by using memory charms. Main purpose of the Obliviators is ensuring the wizarding world was safely concealed from the non magical community, as per the International Statute of Secrecy. Obliviators are specially trained in the use of mental charms.

Suggested Lessons : Charms, Muggle Studies, Magical Law

Auror

Aurors are the best defence wizarding world have against practitioners of Dark Arts. They investigate possible threads, crime scenes. They follow evidence and protect the innocents. They are part of an highly trained law enforcement team.

Suggested Lessons : Potions, Defence Against Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Herbology and Charms with either Outstanding (O) or Exceeds Expectations (E)

Hit Wizard / Hit Witch

Their job is to deal with high profiled arrests. It is a really dangerous and hard job to do but they are one of the vital parts of the Department of Magical Law Enforcements. Our community needs them to risk their lives to protect us. It's not something anyone can show courage to be one.

Mastered at: Charms, Defence Against Dark Arts, Apparation, Ghoul Studies

Advice : Hit wizards are job finishers they don't investigate or do research unlike aurors so you need to be an auror for a while to rank up to a Hit wizard

Of course there are many more career paths in the Ministry of Magic and even more in the Wizarding World. I can only tell you the popular ones. Otherwise I should've written a book about it. In the next issue,  we will be diving into career paths in Wizarding Schools such as Hogwarts. Keep following the Magazine and have a magical day!
