- Chapter 8 -
She dropped to the floor with a deafening noise. The old woman, who was actually the evil queen, ran out and didn’t bother to shut the door. A flood of animals stormed in in a panic, crowding around the beautiful snow white, the apple still in her hand. The birds pecked at her hair, the deer pranced around her, the bunnies rested on her chest, and the squirrels ran off to find the dwarfs. But no matter how hard the animals tried, she wouldn't wake. The squirrels arrived at the caves and started frantically trying to get the dwarfs' attention. The dwarfs had been living with Snow White for about a month and they all knew that the animals couldn’t seem to stay off her. They decided it would be good to head back since the squirrels wouldn’t stop getting in the way. The sun was just starting to set and the fluffy clouds were a beautiful shade of pink and purple. When they arrived they saw the door hanging wide open. They walked in to see Snow White lying lifeless on the ground. The bunny huddled closer to her chest, looking for warmth, while the deer stepped back to let the dwarfs through. They all ran to her, hot tears streaming down their faces and soaking into the wood floors. They tried everything they could think of, but she continued to lie there, lifeless, alone, with her closed shut. When the dwarfs started to settle down they decided that they would make a beautiful glass coffin, lined with rubies and silver, so even in death, the world could see her beauty. They started right away regardless of the fact it was far into the night, their only light being the glistening full moon. It took three days to build the coffin, with hardly any sleep at all, they had created the beautiful coffin. You may not see a coffin as pretty, but if you were to see this one, your jaw would simply drop. It had a delicate glass cover with the base made with pure gold and rubies lining the edges. They had gently placed it in the middle of the woods near their cabin, where the animals could visit and the sun shined high. The dwarfs brushed her coal colored hair and fixed her a new dress that she would’ve loved to have. They rested her down in the glass coffin on top of the silk pad that lined the inside, and layed out her hair. The birds brought a bouquet of roses and the dwarfs helped place them in her hands. The bunny’s brought her a crown made of vines that ever so perfectly fit on her head. They all gathered round Snow White as she laid there, motionless. Dead. One after the next, each animal started to leave. This was it. Snow White had been killed. Snow White had fallen. Of course, when the queen asked her question once more,
“Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?”
“You my queen, you are the fairest of them all”
