Chapter 15
A/n: I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR THE CRINGE TITLE
I hummed jovially as I strung the rose-colored streamers around the tent.
"Someone's excited to get married," said Alice teasingly.
"Yeah," I scoffed. "Like you haven't hooked up with Frank Longbottom yet."
Alice blushed. "Shush, we're just friends! Besides, he's in the Order and we do our work together!"
"Sounds like a study date to me," said Lily, helping me attatch the streamers properly.
"You're one to talk, Mrs. Potter," I said, walking down from the ladder.
Lily blushed a darker red than her hair. "Mar!"
"It's not like you can deny it," I argued, picking up another streamer and starting to hang it on nails that held up the wedding tent. "Your legal name is Lily Potter. Godric, 13 year old Lily would punch me if I said you'd marry that little turd."
"I HEARD THAT!" shrieked James from the other side of the tent, helping Sirius set the tables.
"You're marrying a turd too," piped up Alice.
"I can confirm!" said Sirius with a grin.
Alice blinked. "I was referring to the turd as you, not Marlene."
"I know!" said Sirius. "I am a turd."
"Good that you're self-aware," I muttered, turning back to the streamers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The tent was ready. I was dressed in my wedding gown.
I only brushed my hair because Alice and Lily made me.
It still puffed out, though.
Now was the moment.
Sirius and I stood awkwardly on the platform as Dumbledore cleared his throat.
"Dear friends," he said.
"Er-" I cut in. "Can we just- like- skip ahead to the I do's? This part is kinda boring."
I heard Lana Anderson groan from the middle of the crowd. "MARLENE, IT'S A WEDDING!" she shrieked.
"I KNOW, LANA!" I shrieked back. "I'M IN IT!"
Dumbledore smiled amusedly at the two of us. "We can skip ahead to the vows.
"I'll go first," I volunteered. "Er... well... I'm not the greatest at saying words, as a lot of you guys know. I literally drop dead in front of people I don't know from embarrassment sometimes. And I know we- er- well, a good word for it... we were complete enemies. I jinxed you in the hallway, once, remember?"
Sirius nodded grimly.
"But... it's like this weird thing where we decided to become simple acquaintances and we ended up FREAKIN' MARRIED." I grinned. "That's not normal. It's one of Lana's favorite words, which she implies to me all the time by throwing pies at my face."
Lana rolled her eyes.
"Lana's favorite word is love."
"MY FAVORITE WORD IS-"
Lily clapped a hand over Lana's mouth.
Sirius and I snorted.
"Er..." I continued. "As I was saying... yeah. It's lovey stuff. I'm crap at talking. Love you, Sirius. Your turn."
Sirius nodded. "My mom used to read these garbage romance novels. Everytime someone confessed their love for each other, they would just say, 'You're wonderful, (insert totally pureblood name)! I love you so friggin' much! Marry me!' And the story would just end there, because the author was done writing about the cringe couple." He took a deep breath. "But that's not at all how our story went. We went from annoying the crap outta each other to loving AND annoying the crap outta each other. That's real love. So I'm ditching those romance novels. Love you, Mar."
I could hear James sobbing loudly in the crowd.
Dumbledore smiled. "Sirius Orion Black, do you take Marlene McKinnon as your wife?"
"I do."
"Marlene Pearl McKinnon, do you take Sirius Black as your husband?"
"I do."
"Very well. You may kiss."
As soon as our lips touched each others, I heard the small crowd burst into cheers.
It was filled with all our friends: Lana, Dorcas, Frank, Gideon and Fabian, Lily, Alice, Remus, James, and Peter.
A couple of our family members had come as well. Andromeda Tonks, Sirius' cousin, had come with her husband and 5-year old daughter.
No one else in Sirius' family showed up, however. Most thought he was a blood traitor, or they had passed.
No one had come from my family. Most of them had already passed.
But I already had enough family here with me right now.
A/n: hope you liked that chapter! I have no idea how to write wedding vows, so this is the best you guys are getting :/
