Chapter 13
"Sirius!" I shouted from our bedroom upstairs.
"What is it?" Sirius yelled back up.
"What's for breakfast?"
"I'm making pancakes!"
"Alright!"
I came strolling downstairs at a brisk pace, humming as I traipsed down the staircase.
"Morning," he said, grinning at me and ruffling my hair.
"Hi, love," I said, with a smile. "Pancakes smell weird."
Sirius scoffed and turned to his pancakes. "They're fine."
"They're also burning," I said, sniffing the air. "And somehow sticking to my good nonstick pan."
"Which is why we have magic," said Sirius with a grin, whipping out his wand.
"You're trash at Charms," I said, sitting down at the dining table. "You don't even know what spell you're going to cast."
"Er... Flame-Freezing Charm?"
"I have no faith in you- or your culinary skills."
"Oh, shush," said Sirius, flipping his burnt pancake. "Er- that was a test pancake. I'm trying again."
"You do that," I said.
"You want one?"
"I love you and all, but I have no desire to be puking into a toilet violently while having diarrhea at the same time."
Sirius flipped his pancake in annoyance.
I just grinned and poured myself a glass of water. "What d'you wanna do today?"
Sirius' eyes lit up with excitement. "A walk!"
"I wouldn't mind a nice walk," I agreed. "When?"
"I have no patience, so after breakfast?"
"I have no patience either, so yes."
"Cool," said Sirius with a grin. "We're non-patience besties."
"And non-patience besties love high-fiving each other!" I agreed enthusiastically, getting up from my seat to high-five Sirius.
Instead of high-fiving me, however, Sirius pulled me in by the waist and kissed me tight.
"As much as I love a good snog, the pancakes are burning," I said, smiling into the kiss.
Sirius jumped apart. "NOT MY PANCAKES!"
I snickered as he struggled to unstick them from the pan.
After our burnt pancakes were served, Sirius went upstairs to go get ready.
He came downstairs and saw me still lazing on the couch with grey sweatpants and a Gryffindor sweatshirt.
"I'm not changing," I said loudly, even before Sirius could say anything.
He chuckled. "I wasn't going to say anything. Come on."
We put on our sneakers and took a long walk, chatting about all kinds of things until we reached the nearby park.
"Let's take a break on the bench," said Sirius, stretching.
"Agreed." I yawned widely.
We sat down on a bench in silence for a while, until Sirius stood up.
I was about to stand up myself, thinking we were continuing our walk, but Sirius stopped me.
"One second, Mar," he said, scratching his neck nervously.
I raised an eyebrow and sat back down.
"Listen..." he said, fidgeting his fingers. "We've known each other, like, what... 8 years? But it was just until Lily and James' wedding last week when I realised how long it's really been. And you've helped me through so much, like when I found out that... Regulus died..." His voice cracked slightly.
I reached out to hold his hand tightly.
He grasped my hand back. "And I'm just realising that our story's been so... rich and wonderful."
Sirius let go of my hand and kneeled down on one knee.
My jaw dropped, knowing exactly what was coming.
"And I want to spend the rest of my wonderful life with you, Mar, and stay together forever. Will you marry me?" He reached into his pocket and held out a tiny box with a small ring in it. His face looked expectant and happy.
"Yes!" I squealed. "Of course I would!" I stood up quickly to hug him tighter than ever before.
"I love you, Mar," he muttered into my ear as we hugged each other tightly.
"I love you too, Sirius," I said contentedly, head nestled in Sirius' chest.
We pulled apart from the hug and Sirius took the ring out of the ring box and slid it onto my finger.
"It's beautiful," I gasped.
"I picked it out myself," said Sirius proudly.
"You have very good decision-making skills," I agreed with a wide grin.
"You up for some spaghetti?" asked Sirius with a smile.
"You know me too well."
Hope you liked that chapter... I have no idea how to write a proposal scene so let me know if there's anything I should fix :)
Thanks and hope you all enjoyed!
