Later that day…

The house isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. My mom had me go visit the neighbors I only got through one and then I chickened out for the rest, but tomorrow I have to go and visit the rest. The only one I meet was the one right next door and I didn’t even meet the parents only the son Shane. Well this boy gets on every last nerve in me. Every word he said angered me and then also I wanted him to speak more like the deep tambour of his voice was hypnotic. The fact that I wanted to hear more infuriated me to my very core. Then there’s that aloofness that he has that UGH! That’s probably the worst part about it because I can’t read him and I can read everyone.

Then his appearance I could tell he was the local heartthrob. That dark hair and streaks, his eyes so beautiful, they made you wanna just stare at the depth of them for the rest of your life. At over 6 foot tall he towered over my tiny 5 foot 2 inches frame, and then he was lean but not bulky. Ugh! I’m swooning now I don’t swoon. This country boy who wasn’t all that country in my opinion but I was also in Texas, got this reaction from me that no one has before. I’m gonna have to think more about this before I go into much more detail. I’m gonna sleep on it, time for lights out.

I took a shower before I crawled into bed. After today I was mentally and physically exhausted, I fell asleep before my head even hit the pillow. The next day I woke up thinking we were back in Texas then I picked up my phone to see messages from my friends saying they missed me and that Stella and Lilia were on their way here to enroll for school. Wait Stella and Lilia are coming here my two best friends to go to school for me!

I jumped up and ran down the stairs to tell my mom. “Mom! Mom! Guess what Stella and Lilia are coming here for school till after our senior year!” I then realized there was someone else standing in our kitchen. Turning around it was him.

“Yes honey I called their parents last night and they said they had to come visit on breaks, well you all do. You girls are family not friends and I knew this was gonna be hard for you so I got them to come here they should get here tonight.” She said while I glared at Shane who just stood there and smirked. From the looks of it he had been going for a jog but my mom had caught him before he got far. “Guess what Shane was so kind and offered to introduce you to the other neighbors. So after you eat go get ready so we don’t keep him waiting ok?” she placed a plate of food in front of me and then placed a plate heaping in front of Shane “Hope you're hungry I wasn’t sure how much you would eat.”

After I finished eating I retreated to my room to get ready. I dressed very similar to how I did yesterday when I came back down my mother and Shane was deep into conversation. When he saw me he stopped conversation with my mother to speak to me. “Oh Scarlet looks like you are finally ready.” Turning to my mother, “Thank you Ms. Cross, I enjoyed talking to you.”  He flashed her, a smile, and then walked over to me, placing his hand on the small of my back. This gesture all though it didn’t mean anything to some people, it made my skin burn and tingle I wanted to lean into him but I also wanted to get away, but knowing how my Mom would react if I did such a thing, I was going to have to settle for standing rim rod straight until we got out of the house and down the driveway.

Once out of the house, I took several large steps away. “Number one rule I would prefer if there was no touching. Second I don’t want you in my house or talking my mom and last I just want this to go fast so that I can get home and unpack some oh! And no you cannot help me. Are we clear?”

He nodded “well I will get this over with fast the others you will just have to deal with.” I huffed in annoyance, and that seemed to amuse him but he said nothing about it only “we only have like 1 other neighbor because the other side of the rode is a corn field and then down the rode like 2 miles away is where the next neighbor is but I don’t want to walk that so we will just meet my cousin ok?”

“Well come on then I want to go back home.” I stormed toward the other house at a fairly fast pace. He was right on my tail the entire time, when I got to the front door I rang the doorbell. A guy about my age opened the door he had light blond hair and dark eyes he was the complete opposite of Shane, well as far as looks went. I again and stuck out my hand out to shake his but before I got so much as a word out I was swept into a huge bear hug. This sent me into a fit of giggles, because I could no longer touch my feet to the ground. “Hi, new neighbor, I’m Hunter!”

Laughing I replied “Hi, I’m Scarlet.” I could tell I was going to like him he had a warm open personality.

After he set me back on my feet he placed his hand on the side of his face in one of those mock whispers “Shane, you told me had a new neighbor, but you never told me that she was so cute!”

My face turned red and so did Shane’s who grabbed my arm “I thought you wanted to get home fast, well let’s go.” He started down the stairs.

I yelled back at Hunter “You’re welcome over to my house any time! My friends will be here in a few hours if you would like to meet them!”

“I might have to take you up on the offer.” He winked at me before striding back into the house.

When I got home I unpacked and organized my things which took less time than I thought I would so I choose to write some…
