No one is born animagus. To become one, you have to go through a complex process that takes up to a month - maybe more.

You who are planning on attempting to perform this, should know that if something goes wrong, even a tiny teeny bit, you could end up as a half-human, half-animal or some kind of other mutation - permanentley. So make sure you perform it carefully, correctly, and don't try to find any faster or easier ways. Be patient and your time will pay off with great results.

In later chapters I will give you more information about all the ingredients, basic info, and why they're important to this potion. So as said before, read through it all before you try it out.

Now, onto the process.

Place a mandrake leaf in your mouth, and hold it there from full moon to full moon. This means, don't swallow it, don't take it out to eat or brush your teeth, you have to hold it in your mouth for the whole time. If you'd be to swallow it or take it out, you need to start over from the beginning.

Then, at the next visible full moon, spit the leaf into a crystal phial that can be touched by the full moons light. It's important that the moon is visible, so if it happens to be cloudy, there's nothing to do but start over.

After you've put the leaf in the phial, you must add one strand of your own hair, a silver teaspoon of dew that has not seen sunlight or been touched by human feet for seven days, and the chrysialis of a Death's-head hawk moth. Then put the phial in a peaceful, quiet place where it will not be disturbed. Don't check up on it, just let it be.

Now you wait. You wait for the next electrical storm. This might be a long waiting period, but you just gotta wait. During the waiting period, you have to at every dusk and dawn place the tip of your wand over your heart and chant the words "Amato Animo Animato Animagus" without fail. Every dusk and dawn, don't miss a single one.

When there finally comes an electric storm, immediately go to the place you hid the phial, grab it and move to a large, secure place where you will not be disturbed. Now your potion should be blood red. If it's not, something has been done wrong. Well inacse it is red as it should be, chant the words one last time with the tip of your wand over your heart, and then drink the potion.

Now if it's done correctly and working, you'll get a picture in your head of the animal you're transforming into, and you'll transform. The first time you transform, now, might even be painful, and it might take a while. Thus why you should be in a large, secure and peaceful place. Then when you're to transform back to human, you imagine yourself in human form, and you'll transform back. The first time might again, take a while. But then it should get easier and easier everytime you transform, and at last it's as easy as breathing.
