Chapter 4
Fria gnawed on a stick, she didn't want to worry Colin but he was impatient. Colin ate some rocks, he seemed to be doing some thinking of his own so Fria let him get to it. They crunched under his sharp gleaming teeth, Fria loved his perfect pointed teeth, it reminded her of a creature she had seen in a book once. A vimpire maybe? Ah whatever. The point is hunger was gaining on them and that was never a good thing. Fria didn't know why Connie was taking so long!
Suddenly the front door swung open. They looked up hopefully for Simon or Connie but what they saw puzzled them. A woman walked outside. The same as before. Only this time she headed straight for Fria. Fria felt fear trickle down her chest for the first time in a long time. Colin sensed his leaders emotions and it spurred him into actions. Colin spun up and lunged towards her. But something lashed out and he found himself on the ground, the woman grinning over him. Fria gazed in wonder at the tool in the woman`s hands. It was a long thin fine stick, very neat and polished with no smudges. Fria gasped knowing what it was. She had also seen it in a story book and the familiarity of it made her snarl. The tool in the woman's hands made a tricky movement and a jet of red light flew out of it and caught Colin in his chest. He yelled, fell back to the ground and lay there not moving, sometimes twitching. Fria got angry. She looked at the woman. How dare she! A howling wind spun near the woman, the ground shook and the window broke. Shards of glass spun in a perfect circle, before diving at the woman. She screeched and dropped to the ground. The wind instantly stopped howling. Fria stood perfectly still. Then she ran towards Colin. He seemed as if he were asleep, his face more peaceful then Fria had ever seen. Fria gave a sigh of relief. With ought warning something hit Fria's back. She swayed for a moment, before hitting the ground like a rock. The woman was standing behind her. She had somehow managed to deflect the shards. The girl felt someone pick her up and drag her into a house by the arm. She then remembered no more.
