2) Who Was Panas According To Ancient Hellenic Mythology
Chapter 2
Thus, god Pan played his flute again, and his mystery began taking a form, here in the world of ideas, in the world of Earth in the world of an ancient kingdom full of magic and pure knowledge.. Thus the spirits greeted Panas and he accepted em and continued his journey alongside with mother Earth, he who was died only to reincarnate again in order to reclaim his position in Earth, and help mankind...
Wow, sounds exciting? Now, let's have a closer look! God Pan, had himself connected with Gea, the mother earth in other words in a way not many gods had. He was such a misunderstood entity compared to other ancient Hellenic gods, which we have not a concrete idea why that was.. But in our world he is deeply appreciated! He had feet of a goat (wohoo capricorns rule!) and a face of a satyr with horns on his tophead :). He was a protector of everyday hunters, fishermen and animal-workers. . He was said to live in caves, woods, mountains, rivers and all shorts of nature places! He was a son of God Hermes and Nymph Callistae, who was a pal of goddess Artemis (goddess of Hunting), who is said that she descended on the skies creating the constellation of Big Ursa!! Exciting, huh? :). For the record he was born in Arcadia.
Now, about his name! It is said that it goes for : Πα = carring, guarding , hence that's where you can find the latin word Pasco = sheep eating grass :P. Ok, apart from all of that, some people refer to him the sound of Παν Παν Παν which could mean Panic, since that was made when the Persean lot atacked and lost to the ancient Hellenics in the first battle on them in the field of Marathon.
He was a nymph lover and used to play a lot with them! Now, we all know what nymphs are , right? I won't refer to them because it's slightly out of the topic! But there was a nymph called Συριγκξ(ancient Hellenic) or Syriga, who didn't want his company so she transformed into a plant, and then Panas cut her and made the flute! Many people think that this god is the creator of flute and that he promoted her into humanity. Out of the record, let's just say that the category of the *pneusta* instruments can be made out of wood or the belly of a goat!
That concludes our next chapter. Stay tuned!! :)
Love peace & many chocolate frogs to everyone!
