Herbology Notes

NOTE: These notes alone won't get you an E or O, you do need to look over the actual lesson. Use these notes as a study tool for studying or completing OPEN book quizzes. Y3 L1-L9 notes are in the progress of being taken. For now, they are unedited so do expect some spelling and grammar mistakes until I fully revise them.

Y1 L9: Herbology intertwined

Chapter 9

Cross curricular uses of herbology:

Many areas of magic are intertwined at least a little- whether that be where they get their source from or similar practice methods.

  • Astronomy: You may be planting a nocturnal plant, harvesting a plant based on the moon phases- astronomy plays a bigger role in herbology than you might imagine!

  • Charms: We use charms in herbology to assist in the care of our plants.

  • COMC: At the bottom of every food chain, there is an animal who purely feeds off of herbs- making herbology crucial for the survival of animals!

  • DADA: Dark wizards and witches often use plants within their practices. Such as enchanting a field of crops with a dark spell.

  • Divination: Some practices of divination use herbs.

  • Potions: Now, we've already talked a lot about herbology in regards to potions. However, one thing to mention is plants are much easier to harvest compared to other ingredients in potions- such as parts of animals.
