Herbology Notes

written by Sienna Dixon

NOTE: These notes alone won't get you an E or O, you do need to look over the actual lesson. Use these notes as a study tool for studying or completing OPEN book quizzes. Y3 L1-L9 notes are in the progress of being taken. For now, they are unedited so do expect some spelling and grammar mistakes until I fully revise them.

Y1 L8: Grouping your garden

Chapter 8

Sunlight:

Our first catogory is sunlight. Sunlight refers to the amount of light a plant needs to grow. Giving a plant the right amount of sunlight is cruical, for photosynthesis- which is the process of converting sunlight into energy that the plant can use to grow.

  •  Moonlight: Moonlight is different to shade, as these plants thrive best at night. These plants are likely connected to our solar system.

  • Shade: Plants that require shade should be kept from the sun. Plants that need shade have different levels of shade. They go from light shade to deep shade.

  • Full sun: Catogories that require full sun must be left out in the sun for at least 6 hours a day. It doesn't matter how long you go over that, and the 6 hours don't need to be consecutive.

Colouration:

Plants are catogorised on both their foliage and flower colour. According to the 1384 meeting of the Herbology High Commision, common colours for flowers are pink, red, yellow etc. On the other hand, foliage colours include green, blue, chartreuse, grey and purple. Of course, there are other colours outside of these, but these colours are the common ones.

Established in the 1617 meeting of Herbology High Commision, plants are also catogorised by types. There are many types, however as beginners you will only be introduced to a handful.
