NOTE: These notes alone won't get you an E or O, you do need to look over the actual lesson. Use these notes as a study tool for studying or completing OPEN book quizzes. Y3 L1-L9 notes are in the progress of being taken. For now, they are unedited so do expect some spelling and grammar mistakes until I fully revise them.

Y2 L4: Reap what you saw

Chapter 14

Harvesting:

Harvesting involves cutting of certain plant parts for use. For some plants this can mean the end of their life cycle. Methods of harvesting vary from using bare hands to the Severing Charm. More fragile specimens will need levitation or special containers. When harvesting in the wild, the impact on the eco system should always be considered. For timely matters, immature fruits will continue to ripen past their harvest, but picking to early will lead to a small size.

The Cooling Enchantment:

  • Incantation: Friomente (Free-oh-MEN-tay)

  • Wand movement: Tap the target

  • Willpower: Low to high; depending on how long the chilling will last

  • Concentration: Low

The Maturation Charm:

  • Incantation: Maturio Revelio (Mah-TOO-ree-oh-Reg-VEH-lee-oh)

  • Wand movement: Three taps along the side of the fruit

  • Willpower: Low

  • Concentration: Meduim

Firework colours:

Red (started growing), orange (small), yellow (ripening for storage), green (perfect), blue (over ripe), purple (decay), white (bugs).

Moon Harvest:

  • Full Moon: Harvesting under the full moon helps enhance the plants' properties. This is the best time for transformation and love potion ingredients.

  • New Moon: Harvesting under the new moon is ideal for gentle brews, which children, pregnant woman and elderly people consume. Potency increases for potions and this time is suitable for toxic plants.

  • Waxing Moon: Use this time to gather plants for strength, endurance, growth and intelligence uses. Consider specific harvesting times, such as the sixth day for better results.

  • Waning Moon: This is an optimal time for collecting herb stems or leaves. Suitable for sleeping potions and plants used in divination practices.

Puffapods:

Puffapods are pink bean pods on a bush, which is in class F of the WHIPS classes. it is sensitive to touch and soil, prefers alkaline, well drained soil with full sun lighting. The eddible flowers and beans are quite useful in potions espicially for woman who are pregenant. However, they are hallucinogenic when consumed alone. Handle the beans with care, using the levitation charm when transpoting them. The Anti-Germination Charm prevents sprouting when the plant is in storage. The Repelling and Unbreakable Charm should be used for safe storage. Ensure the puffapods are mature enough by the silver veins.

The Repelling Charm:

  • Incantation: Minium (MIN-ee-um)

  • Wand movement: Downward corkscrew

  • Willpower: Low

  • Concentration: Meduim
